I went into my local surplus shop looking for new 511 cargos for work, and spotted this baby as well. They had a great price for a B&M so I took it home with me. Does anyone ever actually use these in the field, or is it more of a defense knife? Also, does this look like the standard finish, something about it seems different to me. Finally, if you look closely the store applied the price sticker directly to the blade, and it left a "goo" residue. Any suggestions on how to get this off. I learned the hard way that simple dish soap and a scrubbie are a bad idea.

Lighter fluid or GooGone will work on the sticky stuff. Don't know anything about the blade tho'.

Nice catch! If you have some WD40 around it will take off the residue as well. I think that your Daggert is a late production model and they come either bead blasted or with a black coating. But I could be mistaken.

your right.i prefer the black coating, the bead blasted version looks a bit like a toy to me :S

When i get knives with stickers like that i break out the lifghter heat the area ever so little and rub off with my tshirt. Goo be gone etc all work well. As for cig lighter your never going to heat the blade enough to even come close to causeign damage unless its say coated in that funky plastic like paint finish then you could do some damage.

Thanks for the ideas so far. I tried the wd 40 which took the stickiness off but I think the finish may be permanently stained. I can still see the mark. Oh, well it's probably going to be a user anyway. I loved my old Desert Dagger and this thing feels a little heftier so I'm sure I'll love it even more.

just use the dang thing and tear up some terrain .... works for me !! Takes off the stickie AND the finish !!

and if that ain't enough to do the job: then use the Daggert to cut some cantaloupes and honeydew melons. I did that with my SOG Bowie and "it" took the bluing right off'n the blade. I have no clue what "it" is, but "it" has got to be some kind of acidic.

Cheers,

Carl

New Pig Hunter,
I've heard the same thing about the sap from Banana trees, maybe it's citric acid or something similar?
