I played with one of these a year or two back in a local knife shop and was pretty impressed but wasn't quite prepared to pay retail and left without it. Well I just traded into it and I'm kinda sorry I didn't get it back then. I'm sure a lot of you guys have one, and this is old hat for you, but I thought I'd post a little review here for the SOG guys who haven't yet picked one up.

The ergos are great and the FRN is grippy without being abrasive. It's not a dinky knife but carries well in the pocket. The clip holds the knife securely and is very discrete but makes it a little harder to retrieve. A trade off. In todays climate low profile might be better than lightning fast. AUS8 is a fine blade steel for my uses. There's a little side to side wiggle but not enough to concern me, I'm not that anal about it. The piston lock inspires confidence. There's no way on God's green Earth you're going to disengage that by accident. You'd break the knife first. The SAT is at least as fast as my wife's Blackout. I could do without the safety and would have rather had an uncoated plainedge blade but that's a minor point. I've heard some of the knife snobs on the forums knock the Flash but I think they're missing out.

frn is a spyderco handle material . sog use "zytel" . you should get a graphite flash 2 , they`re beautiful.

I have a couple as well,nice knives,good steel,in my EDC rotation and they cut pretty fair. :D

Thanks for the review! I'm still kicking around getting one... but haven't commited yet. Pushed me another step closer.

just buy one , you`ll soon get addicted to the s.a.t , then you`ll need more .

Alright. I'm going to take the plunge. Can a current owner give out some details about ease of cleaning?

i currently own 2 of them , however have not needed to clean them yet , as i only ever "play" with them

oh yeah and make sure you test the sat before you buy it ; one of mine the sat only opens the blade a quarter of the way ; didnt notice it until i got it home , and had binned the receipt.

I clean my knives in an ultrasonic cleaner and rinse them under running water. Dry them and lubricate the pivot points. Ultrasonic gets all of the hidden gunk out of the knife.

I'm looking forward to buying a Flash II, though the cheapest i can find where i live is 2900NT; approximately $100... its kind of expensive but i dont really know any other places with them in stock. And since i dont know much about the laws regarding knives in taiwan, i have no idea if i can order them from overseas =.=;

therefore, do you guys think spending approx. 100 usd on a FlashII would be worth it?

i see, well the thing is, i cant find any retailers in taiwan selling one for a lot less than 100USD. there were some absurd prices though. i remember seeing one in a store for 4500NT.... approx. 150USD.

where in Taiwan do you live? I have some friends in the Taiwanese Marine Corps(I spent a little over three months there training them), and I MIGHT be able to get one to you for a reasonable price....

ah i see, im currently residing in Tao Yuan. It would help a great deal if you can help me find one for a cheaper price. however, im dead set on getting one regardless of the price :D i've been drooling over their pics for quite a while now
