I was clearing out my old house(just moved) when my mom asked to grab a box down from her closet. Right next to it was a nylon pouch, "wouldn't it be cool if this was a knife?" I thought to myself. Lo and behold it was a brand new Gerber Gator 650  . I have no idea where it came from nor how long it's been sitting there. Now it's my beater/loaner.

Sometimes when I'm in traffic with nothing to do, I just look on the ground just hoping that someone may have dropped a knife. One time in traffic I saw a Delica copy, or so I thought, laying on the side of the road partially open. Didn't pick it up because we were starting to move.

Have any of you found a knife in an unlikely place?

Sounds to me like you should be thanking your mom for that cleverly placed Gerber Gator that you found in her closet. Maybe she was thanking you for helping her move? I might be a little leery about picking up cheap knock-off knives on the side of the road. Criminals tend to like to ditch their weapons used in crimes by flinging them out the window. Now if it's a nice custom, then that's another story ;) I have found an old Winchester knife in a coffee can in my Grandfather's basement. I just wish he would've taken better care of it, because it would be a valuable collectors item today if it were in good shape (missing a scale and has a broken blade).

a friend of mine found a .357 in a holster out in the woods -- they brought it to the police station and it came back cleared ... they left it there for 30 days no one claimed it and it was there's

About a year ago I found a 4" Ontario lockback that had been left in the door pocket of a rental car at the Raleigh, NC airport. It had a rather crude clip point black coated blade and a composit (i.e. plastic) handle. I e-mailed Ontario to identify it and they replied that it had been discontinued as "it wasn't up to our standards". I certainly hope not.

Anyway it was free and I use it as a shop knife.
