I've got to say that this is one of the finest knives Kabar has done. My example has the Kryton handles and Kydex sheath so it isn't the traditional style by any means but the fit and finish are excellent. The grinds are perfect and the edge bevels are wvn and square making it the sharpest Kabar I've had outta the box. Props to Kabar!

Congrats on your new knife - - - is the sheath actually kydex or is it glass filled plastic ? I've purchased knives with glass filled plastic in the past and they dulled the blade (not a Ka-Bar) so I ended up returning them.

Just used my KaBar Mark 1 for breakfast this morning (potatoes, onion, garlic, sauerkraut, and brats), I have used it for a few camping trips in the past, and some hunting trips as well. Overall it's not too shabby of a knife especially at the price point. The sheath leaves a lot to be desired and you will find that the glass filled nylon (not Kydex) sheath will dull your blade and provides no retention of it's own. Several sheath maker's here on BF can hook you up on a great sheath.
