I really like this folder. Seems great workanship. the blade is good and solid as is the handle. It's much beefier than my Blackout although not as easy to open. There is a way of deploying it with lightning speed but it takes practice. Made in the USA and picked up at Wally World for 30 bucks, I just couldn't resist. :D

Yeah , isn't it great?

I was lucky enough to find a NIB one at a local Flea Mkt for $25.00. It's probably one of the best knife bargains out there.

Good Luck with it

It is a great knife. That abrasive stuff on the side is good for buffing off callouses on your feet, too. It's great. (Didn't notice there was a blade in it!) Just make sure you don't take off too much skin!

I just started carrying my stormII again a couple days ago. This knife is great and for the money cannot be beat.

I gotta remember not to borrow your knife....

Sure would like to hear what anyone thinks of the steel of the Storm. Does it hold an edge well? Can you get a very sharp edge? Do you feel it it better than 440A or even AUS-8? Is there another steel you can compare it to?

Thanks

The steel has held a very good edge for a while now, in some food prep and chopping weeds and vines off the trail.

I don't like to get into steel-to-steel comparisons, because so much depends on blade geometry and heat treat as well. I don't have much 440A but my AUS-8 knives have always performed well.

As far as opening the Storm II, I find the flipper is a lot faster and just more convenient than the thumbstuds. Sometimes it seems tight, so I flip it open two or three times and it loosens up again. Sometimes I guess my fingers get tired, and a slight wrist flick helps it snap out. :)

(Typical of my EDC choices lately: lined up on my desk are the Kershaw Storm II and S30V Leek, Spydie Adventura and Spin, and a small Sebenza, with an original Endura Wave in my pocket also.)

The thumbstuds feel almost useless on that knife. But the action is so nice and the flipper is well placed, so I don't care.

The grip tape on the sides is really rough, but after about a month of EDC, it gets less coarse and is actually pretty nice in the long term.

Put your thumb on the slanted surface of the stud. Do not push at right angles to the handle, snap your thumb forward, to where the blade will be .

It is great knife and if you compere it side by side with MOD Mark II you may see some similarity in certain design desidion, like sure grip insets (which important if you operate it in gloves), drain foles in the handle etc. It has very agressive blade geometry and very fine Swedish Sandvic 13C26 steel which with low cost may compete any premium steel (due to K-carbide formations). Only thing I do not understand is this unbelivable price.

Check out also Cyclone - similar knife and similary inexpensive, but with switchable SpeedSafe AO system and wide blade.

Thanks, Vassili.

Oh this knife is sharp. I was doing some cutting chores yesterday when the blade slipped off and sliced off a chunk on the back of my finger.

Great knife I actually am crazy about the thumbstuds they work great for me and fast too. The one thing I absolutely HATE about the knife is the clip. It just screams"MALL NINJA PSYCHOTIC RAMBO WANNA BE!!!" Okay well maybe not that bad but it draws way more attention than I'd like.

I wrote a review about that knife a while back and have to say its a great value. I love the blade steel and have since tracked down and bought more knives with that same steel. Its fast become one of my favorites. I think it keeps an edge as well as anything else I've owned. I've been very impressed with it for that as well as rust resistance.

You got you a good knife there. The only real negative I found was the pocket clip and the thumb studs but they are easily fixed to suit me. I converted mine to a low rider style clip. I prefer that much more.

Than looks great. Is if off another knife? Did you "blue" it? How did you change the color? The clip color has always been the main thing that I dislike also.

Thanks

I make them. I andodized it blue. It is a titanium clip so being ti you have a choice of many colors that you can make it if you want.

Sorry for the late post, but I have a quick question for STR. How the heck does one go about getting those thumbstuds off of the knife? I can't seem to get a grip on them with anything. Any help/advice much appreciated. BTW, I think your new thumbstud hook device is a really elegant solution.

I went to handle the StormII at a nearby Wal-Mart last weekend. Felt good in the hand, not as good as the Blur I handled at the same time, but good. I didn't like the feel or look of the inserts tho...made it look cheap and felt rough (I guess it wears in tho). I like the blade shape tho (love recurves), but alas, didn't get it because the only version Wal-Mart had was the combo-edge and I was looking for a plain-edge.

STR - nice clips!

STR,

Do you sell these clips? If so, I want to buy one. I droped you an email. Thanks.
