TLE II and I love this thing. Took it out to the range at it honestly deserves a bettor operator pulling the trigger.:D Unfortunatly she isn't getting one anytime soon. Few questions then for other Kimber/1911 owners.

As soon as I took her out of the box I field stripped and cleaned her. And it then took me over 3 hours to put her pack together, I kid you not. All because of the slide lock. Is it me or does anyone else have that problem. The notch seems rather small.

Second, I picked up some Wilson 8 round mags, and I want to put a bevelled mag well on but none of my local shops carry them. Does anyone know of any good ones, Links would be appreceated.

Thanks

Mike

I hope that it has an internal rather than external extractor . They've been having trouble with the external. They do however stand behind the product if you have any problems.

It does have the external, and I have heard both positive and negative about it. I did look for an older model that had the internal, but none were to be found at a price I would pay. I do like what I have heard about thier customer service, but I am a firm believer in "let the buyer beware."

I've had a Kimber compact stainless/aluminum for about a year. After the first field strip, it gets easier. As far as mags, try Chip Mcccormickcorp dot com. They have good stuff and fast shipping.

I'm a huge fan of the S&A Magwells, they are a one peice design and replace your mainspring housing and have the magwell attached to that.

They cost a few $$$ but IMHO are worth it.

Are your trying to put the slide on the frame with the slide fully assembled (the spring plug held in place by the barrel bushing)?

If so, you should try leaving the recoil spring hang out the front of the slide under the barrel bushing, then put the slide on the frame, put in the slide stop, finally compress the recoil spring with the plug on it (be careful, you can shoot your eye out), then turn the bushing to hold the plug in.

John Clarke do yo have a link for S&A? I did a quick goole search and couldn't find anything.

Geraldo, that is what I finally ended up doing. I was VERY careful with the plug putting it back in. I was lucky that it was pointing away from me when I 1st took it off, it did shoot out and put a decent nick in my ceiling. yikes.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I LOVE Kimber's!!!! I had a Custom Compact with night sights, that I sold, because I need to get some gear. This is the only gun I regret EVER getting rid of. AND I can not buy one in my state.

Last time I was in the US I put 200 rounds through a Glock 9mm with no problems, 5 rounds into a Kimber .45 ACP compact it jammed. Maybe I was just unlucky...?

I NEVER had any issues with my Kimber ever; and I put 1,000 rounds through it. Not one issue, except when I was limp wristing.

A Class B or Class A license should solve that. I have no idea if they will issue a Class A where you live though - not every area does.

Edit to add: I guess not, it's not on the approved list.

I've been reading good things about the Kimbers and I don't have a .45. I have a .40 S&W Glock and a bodyguard in .38 special. But since my military days I've loved the .45 ACP. I'm not familiar with the internal vs. the external extractor. Please fill me in. Five Rings

I HAVE an LTC for my state and a few others for that matter. I have the large capacity. No, I can not get a Kimber in my state.
