Man! I just got my Cold Steel More Proof DVDs and the catalog.

Wow! I've been sucked into Lynn's masterfull art of marketing, and I have quite a big list of knives to purchase now! I Love the DVD! It's so fun to watch knives that you've only seen on the net actually put to action.

And I have to say, I was impressed.

It amazes me why more companies don't follow suit! Why not a Spyderco Proof DVD? :( Oh well...I have to say, I give Cold Steel props for a good watch, and a good In-action catalog!
 
Why not a Spyderco, or for that matter - CRK, Busse or Strider DVD? Because they sell their products on reputation and quality, not marketing.

Cold Steel knives are very tough, and I like a lot of their designs. Some of their marketing, however, is just a bit cheesy. I haven't seen the video though, so maybe I should check it out and see for myself.
 
I didn't think it was cheesy at all. Sometimes I think Lynn does go a bit overboard when he says things like, "strongest in its class", or "strongest lock to date", or "strongest" anything.

However, I do believe alot of companies are not quite up to putting their knives to such hard torture on film. Im sure Spyderco could do a fabulous job, but I give Cold Steel a pat on the back for actually having the balls to put their own product to the test and be so open to critisism.
 
Not to open a can of worms but I do agree with fireshaker.. yea you can get a busse or a strider proof video but their knives cost how much? and busse has such an extensive line of folders? For the price that Coldsteel charges for its products I give them 2 pats on the back for a good product.
 
No worms in that can :) All these knives and companies are different -- if they weren't, all but one of them would end up out of business. They sell different products to different people for different uses, and there is a place for Cold Steel, too, despite the dislike of some people for Lynn Thompson's overheated rhetoric. I think he puts on a good show.

His Proof is fun to watch and his knives can be fun to use. You don't have to feel bad for enjoying a toy that didn't cost you a month's pay :p
 
Heh, Thank you Aniketos.

Im not saying that Cold Steel's knives are the "BEST QUALITY KNIVES MONEY CAN PURCHASE!!!" (Not really a quote, but used for effect). And some people have alot of quarells with CS for reasons I can't even fathom. But when it comes down to it, CS is a GREAT company and are very confident by putting themselves out on a platform.

I may be a peon, but those tests on that DVD looked pretty convincing to me.

I gotta say, I love Cold Steel. :D
 
The only knife video I have seen is the one that came with my Spyderco sharpening system. Now that is a useful vid. Once I watched it my "Sharpmaker" actually made them sharp!
