Just picked up a new M390 Para2 and I'm loving the blade, but the G10 seems a bit too grippy for my tastes. Anybody know the easiest way to tone it down just a little bit, preferably something which doesn't void the warranty?

Thanks all.

You can try using something along the lines of 1000 grit sandpaper. The type sold in automotive supply stores. The G10 will smooth up a bit overtime, depending on how much use and carry time you give it. Wear a respirator of some sort, G10 dust is pretty bad for your lungs.

yeah, that's probably the easiest way. You can also get the G10 a little wet so the dust doesn't fly everywhere.

Probably a stupid question, but that's not going to void my warranty is it?

Best to call Spyderco and ask

Lol you could do what i did. Remove the clip, rub against another G10 knife. lol, i did this while working and some guy walked into the shop and turned around the moment he say me rubbing knives away from my face with my head turned lol it works

You can also do the nutnfancy way. You can apply a thin coat of jp weld to the scales. I dont think it is not ideal but it is an option.

The best way is to rub it on a old piece of denim. It is more gradual taking the the edge off of the G10. I personally love the grippy of the G10.

It's not that I don't like the extra grip, it just makes my hands feel dry and strange...I guess I have texture issues. Awesome knife though. Stropped the edge and it's scary how sharp it is.

I'm really not planning to...decided to wet rub with some 0000 steel wool. Just enough to take a bit of the edge off.

If it's any consolation, the Blue Para2 G-10 is the most agressive, grippy G-10 I have yet seen. I kind of like it but can imagine that it will play havoc with denim.

I've made a handle out of G-10 for one of my mules and it's never really bothered me before. I'm not really too concerned about the very small amount of dust I'll be making by rubbing it down wet with 0000 steel wool. It'll be a negligible amount I'm taking off. Just enough to cut some of the peaks down. My big question here is will this void the warranty? I can't imagine it would.

Don't overdo the sanding and it should be fine. As rycen suggested, you could call Spyderco and ask for a 100% answer.
