hey everyone...just got a ram....thought i woul dpost what i thought....first of all is it assisted?...it opens with ease and extremely fast....if it isn't i'm impressed....i don't like the color of the blade.....i'd prefer a more natural looking steel....i don't know what u would call th coating bu ti think it makes it look a little cheap....i like the design overall....it looks cool.....i think the finger choil needs to be a little deeper...at least for me with my big old mitts......otherwise i really like it....i haven't gotten a chance to sharpen it but i expect the steel to be fine.....overall i'd recommend it.....i might take the coating off eventually but not before i'm confident i can put it back together!:D.......ryan

thanks to grant and gavin hawk for designing this one!

The opening of your RAM is only assisted by You. That's how the Hawk family designs and makes them and that's how Kershaw makes them.

Does your RAM have a black coating or the bead-blast coating? Either one could probably be corrected by spending a few minutes against Mr. Martell's buffing wheel loaded with that Kyosho stuff.

thom...i guess it's bead blasted....i didn't know that's what that was.....now i know i DON"T like bead blasting i guess:D.....that flipper is impressive.....cause i can barely flip anything with no wrist action.....i'd LOVE to have a custom from grant and gavin.....ryan

so if i can't get itback together can i send it to you!:D.....the only thing preventing me from fiddling more with my folders si the fact i have no torx or any other appropriate tools to take em apart.....ryan

ohh one more suggestion....not like anyone cares what i say but:D.....i'd like to see the thumb lock doohickie a little bigger like on the mudd.....it's not as easy to press because it's a little thin.....again....i'm sure kershaw and their designers have plenty of reasons fo rmaking knives the way they do....just one opinion form one user.....none of my gripes will stop me from buying or using kershaws......ryan:thumbup:

Sure. Just PM or email me if you run into any problems. Which I doubt
you will.

You can pick up the torx bits at Ace, Home Depot, Lowe's and of course
there's always the one Kershaw sells. The bits you'll need are a #6 and
#8, which comes with all of the above sets.

Phillip is send out a set of scales for one of my R.A.M.'s on Wednesday. I can't wait to see what they look like.
And yes, the flipping is fast as hell. The design of that system is perfect.

some pics soon as you get them, right, Pops.......?

svrider....thanks for the offer....i actually gotta go to lowe's soon....gotta get me a ceiling fan....i'll makes sure to remember to pick them up when i am at the store....ryan

2brothers....be sure to post a pic.....i'd love to see it....ryan

thanks johhnymac.....i actually traded for the knife.....and i just acquired another kershaw!.....a zt 0200!.....i think i'll like it more than the mudd.....we'll see and i'll post about it when i get it.....i'm thinkin it'll be a little heavier than the ram!:D.....ryan

no it's coated....plain edge......i am thinking of taking the recurve out....stripping the coating and shinin it up some...that'd be nice....much less tactical looking....i am gonna use it as is first though.....ryan

got my 0200 today...man is it big!....i like it though...it has a much more comfortbale handle for me than the mudd....makes sense since it is contoured unlike the mudd.....no dissin the mudd....just a different style....it actually flips open alot faster than i thought it would...and i can't flip knives too well....opens nice and solid and is quiter than i thought...i would've expected more noise....i like that......anyway i'm gonna carry it and once i get some torx drivers i'm gonna sand the blade.....and probably sharpen out the recurve....a little less tactical look is what i need.....ryan
