OK, so the wife needed me to do her a big favor and help her with a presentation for work. I always help and never ask for anything in return. But she was panicking and offered to buy me a knife within the same sentence asking for my help. I have been looking at the Rat 1 for quite awhile, but I never cared for the profile. It just looked odd. So I figured, it is free so might as well try one.

Holy crap! When held, imho it is a fantastic design. No blade play, decent steel and blade profile. It just makes sense. This might kick my Spyderco Byrd Cara Cara 2 G10 as my recommended budget knife. I plan to EDC this...even though I just got a new ZT 0566BW.

i thought they looked funky at first. then i pulled the trigger and bought one against my better half's wishes. this knife disappears in my hand, in my pocket, just about everywhere...until it come out to work than its all business. i now have to get my girlfriend one too so she doesnt keep stealing mine and at this price point id buy a dozen if i could.

My son got me a RAT 1 for Christmas and I love it. It has a very comfortable handle. Excellent value.

It's a great knife for sure, the handles just melts right into your hand.

For being such a relatively large blade, it really shoots open quickly.

Wait'll you get a Rat 2, I love that even more ;)

Might get a Rat II, but I like the size of the Rat I. I am 6'5" and find it easy to carry.

Shameless plug, I'm selling a very rare Venom Green Rat 1 on eBay if anyone is interested. Just search it up.

Loved the Rat1 as a general use knife so much that I got the Rat2 and it is my new edc. Once I started playing with it, I gave away my Kershaw cryo. Just great knives for the money.

I picked up a RAT1 a few weeks ago. I like larger knives usually, but I may have to try that RAT2 also.

To think that the Rat 1 looked odd and implying a Byrd cara doesn't ... well that's just loony :p

The Rat is such a great design, i would LOVE if they put out a premium version, G10 scales and higher end steel. That would be my dream knife.

If their going to go premium on materials, I'd want them to spend the extra money to mill out the liners to reduce weight as well.

Love mine. That sneaky little thumb ramp with jimping is so functional without being big and swoopy. The knife keeps a clean profile. I was just thinking about picking up a Rat 2 also!

I picked up my first every Ontario knife the other day. Yes, a RAT-1. I like it a lot, and used it to open a few boxes. Did very well. I will say though, it is bigger than I expected it to be. Even looking at it in the clam it didn't seem as big, then I got it in hand and it just fiolled up the hand. I do like that its robust and heavy duty.

+1

Got a RAT 1 and RAT 11, use them both for work nearly every day, cannot fault them - but beware the sharpness. They hold a great edge.
