Last night I wandered into Satan's Demonic Den of Iniquity (usually known as Walmart) and lo and behold they had a short nighthawk for $39 dollars plus tax. I was never really a fan of the Nighthawk before, it just never looked like my kind of knife, but I asked the clerk to get one out for me so that I could handle it, along with a 119 and a smaller Gerber. Well, I changed my mind pretty quickly. The Short Nighthawk was a LOT heftier than I thought it would be and was shaving sharp. Also, the blade was a lot thicker than I thought, about .20 inches by my crude tape measure measurement. (I don't have calipers). As you can tell after about 5 minutes of comparing the three I walked out with the Nighthawk with no regrets so far. I haven't had a chance to really use it yet, but it works as a great letter/package opener and shaved hair really well. My only complaints are that the handle material seems to scratch a little easily, no biggie, and that although I like serrations I wish they took up a little less space. Maybe only 1 to 1.5 inches of the blade instead of half the length. Otherwise it's a great knife. Keep up the good work Buck people.

lagarto...
What model number did you get?
Tanto?
I have looked on the auction site and the Tantos there are usually high $ for a used knife. But, I'm thinking I'll just stick with my short Ka-Bar Tanto since I can use dough for other Buck knives.
Really like the 650 (long one) I got though. I too thought like you until I held the NightHawk. It's impressive.
