Fellas and Ladies,
It has been along time since I have been on this forum. With all that is going on in Texas and the World time is short.
But one of life's simplier pleasures is a new knife or in my case a new multi-tool.
My wife and I were browsing in Sam's Club yesterday and of course I was in the sporting section and saw a notice for a "Last One" item. It was a Victorinox Swisstool RS in the bubble package and never opened. The price was 19 dollars. I snatched it and put it in our basket. My wife raised an eyebrow and asked in a not so pleasant tone "Do you really need another knife thingy?". I quickly explained that at this price I could use several but they only had one left.
This makes my fifth multi-tool and in my short lived experience with it, the best. I am very impressed by the quality and fit of this tool. However, I must say that to me it is ugly as a bar of homemade soap, but it does seem to be built like a SHERMAN TANK. The SwissTool when closed up does not have any impressive features. It looks like a rectangle of stainless steel. It is very unimposing. The greatness of this tool can be found in the ability to get the goodies out without having to open the tool or fuss over a large clump of things comming out all at once. I also love the locking of all the tools. I have the Leatherman Wave, and for the life of me I can not figure why there are so many flat head tools. It seems a waste but that is my opinion.
I have been using my Schrade Tough Tool for the past few months and it is very useful. The Wave has always been more of a "neat" tool but I rarely use it. My Gerber 400 is another favorite for it's compact size. My Gerber 600 ProScout is my hunting and fishing companion. I had a Leatherman Supertool 200 but was not impressed with the locking mechanism so I brought it back.
If ya'll get a chance to get out to your local Sam's Club check out the close out isle. Maybe there are a couple of these left. For the price, they simply can't be beat.
