Well, I bowed to the pressure and just got a Wii for the kids. Spent a chunk of the afternoon getting it set up. Didn't come with two hand controls like common sense dictates... had to buy a second one for ONLY another $49.99. It came with a disc that has various sports on it; tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, boxing, and some kind of work-out thing too. Dammit, looks like I have to go out and buy another "nunchuck" for the second hand unit... whatever the heck that thing is.

I am NOT a gamer type, but about the only game I do enjoy is the shoot-em up ones. Specifically, looking for WW-II theme. I do know there is one, but the Toys-R-Us where we bought it was out of it. That particular game costs yet another $49.99.

So, who has a Wii? And, what games do you have and like? Please tell me there are some cool games that DON'T all cost $50 a pop.

Thanks in advance,

The Wii isn't really known for shoot em ups, but pretty much all new games cost $50 or more. Look for used ones at places like gamestop.

I liked the sports package games because they were pretty fun and easy.

Red Steel 2 looks cool. You play a sword and gun wielding ninja. Avoid Red Steel 1 because it didn't have the kinks worked out.

(all info comes second hand from my Son, a serious gamer)

If you mean games where you actually shoot with the little fake gun, go to Amazon and type in "wii gun" and it'll pop up a bunch.

As far as standard shooting games, I've never played it on the Wii (just the PS2) and it's not WWII themed, but Resident Evil IV is an awesome game.

Wii Sports Resort is actually pretty fun as is Mario Kart. Don't forget it will also play Gamecube games. The Wii Fit is actually interesting...I like to just hit imaginary golf balls for about 30 mins a day...very relaxing.

I picked up a Wii a couple of months ago. As has been mentioned, there aren't a whole lot of the mature content games like there are for the other consoles. But again, Resident Evil might be worth renting to try out.

Wii seems to be a lot more family-oriented than the other systems. Besides Mario Kart, we spend some time playing Mario Galaxy as well. In general, the games cost a little more than the other systems. You can also download some of the older games for next to nothing though. The classic Super Mario Brothers looks pretty cool on a big flat screen. :D

you might be able to get call of duty: world at war for the wii, pretty good game.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is pretty fun, and it should be available for ~ $20. It's more of a beat 'em up than shoot 'em up game, though. It's still oddly satisfying to Force Choke a stormtrooper to death. . .

Warning: your arms will hurt after preforming Force Push nine million times. . .

Try amazon for older games, fleabay also. I mostly go with amazon for used older games.

Just a FYI...Go ahead and get yourself Guitar Hero or Rockband (with the instruments) both you and the kids will love it.

Also two reccommendations

Zelda Twilight Princess
Super Mario Galexy

Get ready to pay a bunch for games, its best really to skip new releases and either rent (gamefly.com is basically netflix for videogames) or buy games from a year or so ago that are used for 5-20$

"Boom Blox Bash Party" is a favorite of mine. Wii Sports Resort is also a lot of fun, as is Mario Kart. Lately, I've been using the Wii to watch Netflix instant movies on the TV.

I've become addicted to "No more heroes" which plays like an anime comic/social satire and makes absofreakinloutely no sense. but still fun in a deranged sort of way. I dont think I could adequately describe it, so here's the wiki page

For a mega-excellent zombie shooter check out Resident Evil 4. Since it's a port from the gamecube it's only $40 or less.

Oh yeah, and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess rocks too. Not as much shooting (and when there is it's with a bow) but it's an awesome game and lots of hack-n'-slash goodness to be had. :D

You can find the Official Wii gun with Links Crossbow Training for around $30 and the game is pretty fun.

Although it's a little outside your realm of shoot-em-ups, the game "Mini Ninjas" is a hoot. Whoever did that one had a really great, tongue-in-cheek sense of humour, as well as a good head for game design.

There are a TON of shooters out there for the Wii, some using a gun controller, some not. It's not my bag, so I can't really make a recommendation. I play mostly the Rayman games...again, FUNNY!!! Raving Rabbids 1, 2, and 3 are enough to keep you laughing for hours!
