Finally went and picked up my first replacement for my two Kershaws with perpetually breaking torsion bars since my final one had the pocket clip break off. I was hoping to get an Orange Zing but only the black was in stock at House of Knives (which provided excellent service!).

Took me a little to get used to the opening, but after about a day it's smooth (right handed, left I'm still working), and it's quite comfortable to hold, but I haven't had too many opportunities to use it in a real world fashion yet (cutting open packaging so far). The pocket clip is the same style as the Mini Mojo I had before which will wear out the seams on the pocket if it's not jeans.

One thing I'm curious about is the oval in the liner lock near the end of the handle. Almost looks like they have stock parts that they use for knives like the RAM that they put in all of them.

I took the clip side scale off of mine and sanded it down unti it was completely smooth. Now it slides in and out of the pocket with ease and I don't worry about it chewing up the seam of my pocket.

The scale is the grippy handle material? I actually had it happen with the Mojo which had a pretty smooth handle. I'm thinking it was the pants too, Zegna corduroys, since my jeans handled it fine.

Yes the scale is the black grippy handle material. The scales are already pretty smooth on the Zing, but you can make them smoother. Coduroys rip up pretty easily. It may have been the actual clip in that case.

Yeah, since it was on the outside rather the inside. The interesting side effecti is I could put the clip between the layers of fabric and nothing would be visible.

This is funny to me because I have quite a few pairs of jeans where the pocket seam is basically gone. I've done the same thing when I'm sporting a knife with a huge clip like the Kershaw Tyrade or JYD II.

The Zing is my favorite "small" knife. I picked one up for my son as a Christmas present and liked it so much I bought one for myself.

I modded the hell out of my Zing , I hated the pocket clip like poison so now it is clipless. That little Zing is the only linerlock flipper I've seen that opens like an AO , absolutly no play whatsoever and superstrong lockup.

The Zing is just another winner from good 'ol Kershaw.

Yeah, I'm impressed that it opens like an AO, and it's very simple. The look is great too, I'm enjoying it more and more, and I think personally I'm glad I got the black. Orange is sheeple friendly but I mostly get knives for myself. I'm thinking I may just need to bend the clip a bit so it's slightly looser.

Zing is a great knife - it's got one of those "do everything" blade shapes and it's quite thick.

The only problem I've had is I'm one of those people who's sweat rusts steel very quickly. I've come to expect it as normal, but the Zings blade is tougher to clean.

All of the RJ Martin designed Kershaw models I've used open like AO. The geometry is SOLID.
