Hi guys. I'd like to share my joy. Just received Al Mar SERE 2000 from Knifeworks. It is good, good, good
It is a knife I always dreamed of. Extremaly sharp, perfect quality, not too have and not too lite. Handle is greate but the best part of this knife is a blade and it is a state of the art.
Great knife overall.
Regards Andre.

Hi Andre,

If you look around these forums for long, you will see my glowing praise for this specimen of a knife. I really believe it is the best production liner lock made, at least as good as the vaunted MT LCC. It's a lot less expensive than the LCC also.

My SERE 2000 looks basically custom in fit and finish...and is just one rock solid folding knife. It is a masterpiece....and is the perfect EDC. Congrats on a owning this fine knife.

I hate to say it, since I really liked mine a lot.
Until I tried the spine-whack test.
It failed.

I did not contact AlMar so far, but I will.
I can´t find an e-mail adress on their website. Can someone help?

I hope I just got a bad knife, since I never heard from anybody else something like this.

Dirk

Hi Dirk.
I think it is just bad luck. Try to contact allblades.com and ask them, they might know something because they are hosting almarknives.com
Just a gess
Regards Andre.

Dirk,

When did you get the knife? I've heard some problems with the liner locks on these knives, particularly the first run. The newer ones seem to have been corrected. I have yet to make mine even budge. Lockup is tighter than on anything I own.

I had heard of problems with the earlier versions here on the forums, but the ones I've seen recently don't have that problem. Dirk, by all means contact AMK if you feel your knife is defective. I'm sure they'll make it right.

The SERE 2000 is the most solid liner lock I have ever handled. It is remarkable, especially for the money.

Dirk, you may have gotten one of the earlier production runs. There were reports of some probs. I'm sure they'll make it right for you.

I just recieved a new AMK SERE 2000 too, and must agree it is a great knife. I love the action, it opens so smoothly.

I haven't had any problems with lock failure, but have not given it very heavy testing. The lock seems to be rock solid, and locks up without play, but doesn't require excessive force to close.

I like mine alot although I haven't carried it in a while. The knife is very solid and feels great in the hand but I had to do some little things to make it nice when I first got it. Mine was very sharp on the edges of the frame and I went over it with a dremel and a soft scotchbrite wheel to round it off a bit. Much improved!

Also, mine will fail the spinewhack test occasionally. There's a lot of controversy over the spinewhack test though, and I don't worry about it so much. IMHO, if you're doing something that makes the blade fail when in that position then you need a fixed blade anyway.

Thanks Folks,

yes, indeed, I think I got an early model. I purchased it in January this year.

Besides the lock on mine I really like it. To this point it is my favourite outdoor folder. (Let´s see what Busse comes up with:) )

I did not find an e-mail at allblades.com either. That means I have no idea how to contact AlMar right now. Does anybody has a phone number or e-mail adress?

Dirk
