Just received my new CQC7b-plain-edge-satin finish from the dude in the big brown truck!! (and my LaGriffe, can't forget the La Griffe!) I have to say I'm definetly impressed! I've got a mini-CQC7A and noticed how much QC has improved at EKI (had to get that one, I mean a Mini?!? Ya gotta love it!!) The reason I'm mentioning this is my wife bought me a CQC7A for Christmas a couple of years ago, and I had nothing but trouble out of it. I finally sent it back to the company she bought it from and got her money back. (By the way, yes, I'm very lucky to have a wife who supports my knife habit-these two were ordered by her as well!!) However, I've always been a fan of Emerson's knives and it just bugged the hell out of me that I didn't own one. Then, I found a Benchmade CQC7 at a gun show for sale, bought that one, and it just re-kindled the fire. Then I got the mini when it came out, and it started me lusting for a full-size CQC7 to carry. I made my mind up when I noticed the super-cool extra detent on the mini for keeping the blade closed. This so rocks!!
I do have one slight problem, though. Just like Daniel L noted, my LaGriffe wasn't that sharp out of the box. But, not to worry, the Spyderco sharpmaker took care of that real quick-like.
Now if Ernie and Co. would only make production models of the CQC5 and CQC6 I would be in heaven.

Ps: FYI: I'm sure I'm not the only one who got turned on to Emerson knives this way, but I first heard about them by reading Richard Marcinco's Rogue Warrior books. Amazing the stuff you can learn about in books, eh?
