I have been a dedicated BM and Spydie guy for many years. But lately I have been looking at some other brands in order to broaden my horizons. The Zero Tolerance line up has always caught my eye but I hesitated switching brands for the longest time. Guess I'm stubborn. I really like how ZT's are "overbuilt" and I love the look , the feel and the weight of them. I much prefer thick blades and heavy duty construction on my knives. And ZT scratches me right where I itch. I feel like these knives were made for me.

I just bought my first ZT. The 0550 2nd Gen. And I L-O-V-E it to death. The beefy S35VN blade with it's stone-washed finish is absolutely gorgeous. The super thick titanium frame lock is a work of art and locks up like a bank vault. Super solid.

I just wanted to chat a bit about my new toy and my new-found delight with Zero Tolerance. I'm so glad I decided to give ZT a try. Wish I hadn't waited so long. I am now a Zero Tolerance guy.

I will give it a look. But for now I am quite smitten with my new 0550. I just discovered that there are after market scales available too. Niiice. I also like the 0350. Looks sick.

Also , so Kershaw owns Zero Tolerance , right ?

My first ZT and only ZT is the 550 and like you I love the knife . I'm not a big fan of the recurve blade that's why I don't own other ZT . I would like to get the 561 .

I have the 550 (1st gen) and 350. If I could keep only one it would definitely be the 550. Just ordered a 560. Can't wait to see how it stacks up to the 550.

Kershaw, Zero Tolerance and Shun are all Owned by KAI LTD

KAI ? Okay thanks. I will Google them just to get familiar with the company. I notice that some big names in the knife world also help collaborate on some of the ZT designs like Ken Onion , Mick Strider and Rick Hinderer. I think that's awesome.

Welcome to the ZT side of the knife life. The 0550 is a beautiful knife, you made a good choice there. If you continue to venture out the 0300 series is pretty awesome too. They aren't as "fancy"(for lack of a better term), more of a military look, IMO.

Also great designers like RJ Martin, G&G Hawk and Tim Galyean work with Kershaw... And wait till you have the pleasure of using there customer service! They are a great group of people.. like our mods Jimmer_5 and KershawLynda ..

Thanks for the welcome. I am definitely excited to be on the ZT side of things :) I really like the look of the 0300 series. I will more than likely pick one up in the not-too-distant future.

And I'm looking forward to checking out what all the designers have to offer through Kershaw/ZT. The Hinderer design of the 0550 blew me away. I'm pretty much obsessed with my new 0550.

Zero Tolerance for life !!!

Wolverine666, I too was loyal to BM and Spyderco and just couldn't see carring anything else. But I knew there were other great knives out there that must be worth trying/learning.

The ZT 0350 was my first entry and oh man, these are addicting! I just received my second, a LNIB 0560. If you like your 0550 I'd bet you'd love the 0560. Now it's time for some custom scales, standoffs,..

2ac ,

Haha. I can already feel my obsessive nature taking hold concerning my new-found love for ZT knives.

I'm looking at custom scales too. Is it very difficult to take off the old scale and put on a new after market scale ? I just don't want to disrupt the blade tension and alignment.

Nope it is a piece of cake to replace the scale.... just take off the 3 screws holding the scale and the pivot screw.. take off and put on new scale and put the screws back on... make sure not to tighten the pivot screw all the way tight just enough where the blade is centered and there is no play....and make sure not the tighten the scale screws to hard and it make crack some aftermarket scales

Also make sure to check this thread out for scale makers for ZT

I have 3 scales for my 0560s and 4 for my 0550.. It fun to change them up..makes it like a new knife

I really like my zt 0560 but I can not find anyone with custom scales. I tried the preacher but he's out and I can't find Peter R. Please help!

You have to wait to get them Made if you want something specific..also Peter R doesnt make scales anymore...
