I think thats the number, a buck ranger. Damn this is a sharp, sturdy knife! Always wanted one of these and its the perfect size. Solid handle, sharp, sharp blade. I like it much better then plastic handles. Feels like a real work horse, and I'm gonna get its first real use today at work(as well as the next 2 weeks straight)

Got a good sheath idea for it too. Using my old becker sheath for my swamp rat, and in the stone pouch is going the 112!

What a sweet knife!

Good choice! I've carried one since '95 and think the 112 is probably one of the most underrated knives out there. For a solid every day user they are hard to beat.

I have been a fan of Buck Knives for many years. About 25 years ago, I bought my father a 112 for his birthday. He carried it for years but not on a daily basis. Sadly, he passed away a little over a year ago. While going through his things, I ran accross the 112, still in the leather pouch. He kept it very sharp. This "special" 112 is now mine. I will cherish it always.

After carrying 110's for years I bought a 112fg. I like it alot, I think it may be the prettest knife made.

I agree that the 112 is somewhat underrated. It has basically followed in the shadows of the 110 but the good news is that most improvements made to the 110 over the years carried over to the 112.
TRT, Welcome to the forums and thank you for sharing your story. Its funny how something like a knife can become a family heirloom like that. I too have a knife from someone special, my grandpa. And although i only met him once, and the kife is not a Buck, , It is still very special to me.
Take care,
