Anybody gotten a chance to use their "Knife Belt Sander/Buffer?" (p. 60)

It's Model G1015...looks pretty d**n good, for $295!!!! 2x72" Belts...pretty standard, 10" Contact wheel available...o.k., it all looks good--so what's the catch? It blows up after thirty minutes?

The only thing I can see that might be a problem is that it's only a 1 hp motor, so it'll have a little problem hogging off, but hey, you also get a buffer on the other side! This looks like a dream machine for most of us small-timers, or new makers!

Thoughts from the general populous?!?

That Grizzley 2x72 is my next new toy. I've been getting by with my old home made stuff and its time for something better and until I hit the lottery a fancy one is out of the question. I hear they work fine with a little tuning up and you have to admit, the price is right.

Thanks, Kaos--right back at'cha.

[Off-topic bit]

BTW, how is Wyoming fixed for technology jobs? The wife and I have been eyeing a move up to your neck o' the woods, the country up there is just Gods-awful purty, and still affordable, but it looks like I'd have to practically start my own business, if I want to work on computers up there.

Anything?

*Incoming Rant*

Ok this is really starting to piss me off, I went to the grizzly site all excited to get a catalogue and buy one their grinders, but what do I see?!?!?!? a comment to the effect of "we will ship our stuff anywhere's in the world except Canada"

What is everybody's f%$#ing problem with Canada?!?! Now if Canda was located on the south pole maybe, just maybe, I could see a problem, but this is an American Company that wont ship to a country that is attached to them. Bah I give up, I'm gonna make my own country and ship things to every country except the U.S.

I formally apologise for this, but it's been building up.

Hey Kisu--

[Almost certainly unnecesary poke coming on]

So you're moving to Quebec? (Aren't they the folks who want to secede from Canada?)

I guess jokes are funnier if you're well-versed in the surrounding topic matter, neh?

Kisu, I'll bet their problem with Canadian business has to do with a past run-in with one of your favorite institutions up there, Revenue Canada. It certainly isn't that they don't want your money. (Sometimes you just have to use a double negative.)

In a past life I got crosswise with those people and it got pretty ugly (read expensive).

KISU...I'm sure you can get stuff from Grizzley shipped to a Forum member near the border and go pick the item up, hell, I'd do it for you if I lived closer to the border.

Jake and Gaknife,

You're both right

Gaknife: I think another problem is the whole thing with any product coming into Canada has to have both english and french on the packaging(thank you Trudeau)

Jake: I keep in contact with Kevin Cashen quite often and he is close(Michigan) I'll give it a try. Thanks to both of yas

Kisu,
I live in Cambria, NY and can be in Niagara Falls, Canada in about 20 minutes. In fact I will be making a crossing here shortly to see Mr. Tichborne at the Fishing and outdoor show in Mississauga next weekend. I'd be glad to help you get it across if need be. Just holler.

Regards,
Glenn
