WOW! This is my first sebenza and I love it! Its very smooth and feels very good in the hand. I cant wait to use it!

I have a few questions.

What is the thumb stud made of?

it seems their is a seperate coating on the spine area where the grind starts and goes down to the edge what is the diference?

I thinkt he thumb stud is anodized Ti.

It's not a coating difference, but a polish difference.

BTW post some pix!

Thumb stud is made of titanium.
As far as I know the blade is not coated, though the cutting edge has a satin finish and the top-portion of the blade is stonewashed.

Congrats on your new Sebbie!!!
Enjoy it!

I thought the thumbstuds as well as all the spacers where 303 stainless steel?

And Congrats on the new Sebbie!

Thumbstud and spacer is made of (anodized) titanium.....,stop-pin/ring is made out of steel. (as far as I know of;) )

I think varies years to year, late spring to early fall.

Just a few years ago, one could leisurely contemplate the purchase once the hit the sites. Now It's kinda like a feeding frenzy as soon as they show up. Buy as soon as you see it or you'll miss it.

Outstanding knife! I like the wood inlay knives but I just feel that when I am clumsy, I'll just drop the knife and I'll scratch the heck out of the beautiful finish. The micarta inserts are pretty durable and the plain Sebenza slab handles are solid and I'll just stick with these finishes.

Maui:

The LE inlays hold up very well for daily use and unless you make a deep scratch, any scratch can be refinished by CRK. A little Johnsons wood wax once and a while will keep it bright. One benefit of EDCing a LE is that the wood gets "aged" and the grain becomes more distinct. I find this great. I also have a blackwood Mnandi that has been my daily work carry for about 2 years. Each day after work I just toss it in my locker and it gets no break during work duty. I carry it where I need to (I.E. in my scrubs shirt pocket) with no consideration about it being scratched. I checked it out close the other day. The blade was scratched slightly and I had a few dings in the titanium but the inlay was almost like new. The point is that unless you slam the inlay to the ground, it won't scratch. And if gets scratched, think of it as a "distressed look" knife.
