Just got my 5, the family is growing!

I've been really, really slow on picking up a five. Mostly I read about this being a good cooking knife. I took it out of the box and holy crap I'm right back in a class on knife fighting at Ft. Bragg (which consisted of.. don't.) No chance to do much with it yet but man it balances like a lightsaber! Love the feel of it so far!

With the rest of the family, minus the -9 (which apparently went out to destroy invading aliens without bothering to tell me about it) and a couple other -14's.



Just noticed my -15 is absconding somewhere also.

Congrats on the 5. It's an incredibly versatile blade that's too easily overlooked. We got one a few years ago and love it. Yes, it excels at kitching duties (because it's so darn slicey), but you'll be amazed at how well it handles other less cooking-oriented chores. Congrats again.
 
Congrats on the 5, that is going to be one of my next Beckers, 5, 14 and 15.

Have any mods planned? Keep us updated.
 
Thanks guys! I'm going to get an 11 at some point just because, I love the Eskabar's and Izula II's but what the heck right?

I'll probably just strip it and let it get its own patina. The micarta handles are the bomb but Grivory is pretty good for not picking up any gunk.
 
Nice Family! The FIVE is an awesome blade, Congrats.

Very underrated and it's a shame more people don't have one.

Agreed. It's the knife that feels best in my hand, of all the knives I've held so far. The balance, the way it handles, it's top notch.
 
Knife fights are sooooo far down on my list of favorite passtimes.
These Beckers are going to rival my Estwing hammer collection before long.
