a trade with fedaykincmndr, olive model. switched the clip to right hand carry and gave it a day in pocket. bigger than i expected. the liner lock is solid, i have frame locks that don't feel this sturdy. no clue what these complaints have been about. i don't think it'll replace my sak's but it's a fun, stout knife and has a place in my catalog. this is only my second buck, the first being the 119 which sees pretty much no use (shoulda went with the 110). here it is beside another drab folder.

Hey Magnum22...
That is a cool pic and good lookin' 889. Like that OD!!!!
I have only had my 889 about a week and am wondering how I lived w/o it. No problems with my lock and I don't expect any.

Wish they had made the thumb slot double as a bottle opener (I'm sirus).

What was it that convinced you to make this your second Buck?

i actually wanted the 889 for a long time but never felt like it was worth the money. i had a jason aube tanto for about three months and never cut a single thing with it so i decided to check the trade forums and see what i might be able to get for it. the 889 was right there waitin for me.

the 119 may meet the same fate as the tanto. i've had that knife for much longer and never use it. it seems to be good for nothing but that 'classic knife' appeal. i probably wouldn't use a kabar or other similarly patterned knife, maybe i'll keep the 119 to remind me of that. it is awful sharp.

Thanks for the reply M22.
I do know that I have used my 889 more in the first week than I did my 119 in the first month I got.
Hope you like your 889 and have a long history with it.

I love my 889, and the lock is bulletproof. I never understood what all the complaints were about.

Thanks for the pic and comments Magnum. Glad to hear these positive comments on the 889. Congrats on your new knife!

About your comments on the 119... I have several large fixed blades and their biggest drawback is that I don't have them on me when I need them. They just don't fit the bill (for me) for a quick run to the store, bank, etc. Give me a stout folder any day.
