Maillady brought me my Bk9 today.
It's a surprising little blade!
One, it's very light. I never imagined it to be so light having experience only with heavier kabars and the quarter inch thick 1277.
Also the handles are slim compared to my Bk2, I didn't expect that. I thought all Becker handles were the same. So that brings to question, when you order factory micarta, is it thin or thick??
It also gave me a chance to experience the Kabar Nylon sheath and it's nifty little pocket. I haven't held one if these sheaths yet, only drooled over it from pictures. It nice, works pretty well. The only drawback is that the snap isn't reversible and is strewn in such a way that I have to pull with the index finger to unsnap it rather than push it off with the flick of a thumb. Also, the strap can't be buttoned back behind the sheath to keep it out of the way when not needed as I like to do, the backing is too wide.
It,like my 2, is unused old stick bought second hand but unlike the two it is over a newer generation having pommel extension which makes me non-hesitant to go beat it up
I kind of like my 2 without the extension, in new condition and I haven't wanted to go beat it up yet.
The 9 will get a workout 1st.
Anyway, I'm just giddy at the sight if t and I can see how it might be the better blade that I own in it's size range and that it can do light duty work as well as large duty work easily.
