Well guys I just got my benchmade I have to say I am very, very impressed. I had already held one at a local store. I ordered off the net though cause it was about $20 bucks cheaper. I cant believe how sharp it is. Pardon my newbness but i've never had a knife from the factory be this sharp. I started off and shaved hairs off my arm. then I got a hair and actually split it. Just like that you tube video I saw from a guy on this forum, cant remember their user name. I tried and tried last night to just sharpen my gerber to shave hair and just couldnt do it. I guess I need more practice or whatever. I just wanted to say I really like this knife, and recommend it to anyone that is looking at buying it. Go ahead and do it.

My first Benchmade was deceptively sharp. I didn't realize quite how sharp it was until I put it to use. When I got it back from the factory they had restored that outstanding edge, and I have been able to get it just a bit sharper here at home.

Congrats reality check. The 551 was one of my first quality knives. The Axis is just a great lock.

Congrats!!

The mini-grip was my first Benchmade. Now I have 6 Griptillains:D

4 mini-grips
1 full size grip
1 fixed grip.

You're going to love yours!!!

Actually all I have to sharpen with right now is a Diamond Stone (coarse/fine) from Smith's, and a piece of leather about 14" x 3" that I bought from a boot store for a dollar. After using the blade I was able to take some time and strop it until it was sharp enough to catch hairs on my arm without touching the skin. I'm getting a guided sharpener for X'mas, but I learned the 'old fashioned' way and it works for me.

I have many Benchmades and I love every one of them. The only Grip I own is the Ritter and it's a great knife. Congrats and enjoy.
