Got it today.. thanks Gollum!!

1st impression .. IT'S HUGE!!! you get a lot of knife for the price

Some dimensions...

Length closed: 122 mm
Length opened: 200 mm
Blade: ~85 mm
Width (Closed): 50mm (at its widest.. this one takes the cake!!) can't see how this can be an EDC..

Very smooth opening action, no blade play.. nice thick stout blade (~3 mm).. very heavy folder... lockup is solid..

Finishing is pretty good for the price you pay.. lock is flush with handle and all that jazz.. even comes with a boye dent... makes me have a lot more faith in made in China stuff

Did not come too sharp.. but a couple of minutes of sharpening changed all that.. been used to cut some packaging and peeled and sliced 2 mangoes..:D

Definitely a user.... for anything, everything type of user.. am looking to satin the blade and maybe the SS scales as well with either scotchbrite or fine grit sandpaper..

At their price point this Crossbill makes me wanna buy more for rough and general use.. anyone own this knife or had any other equally positive experience with Byrd knives??

Same experience with Cara Cara
Big (but as I'm EDCing (CF) Military now it is not a big concern :)) and heavy (and this is and probably ever be a concern for me (or maybe I'm just finicky:))

But it is the knife to go when you need to cut anything without giving a thought if it is a good idea with your $160 folder :)

Yup, great knife, great price! Just wipe it down dry from time to time as body oils and humidity accumulate and can make it quite slippery. Mine came razor sharp, and has held the edge quite well as there hasn't been a need to give it a touch up as yet.

Matador-

I have a stainless gripped Cara Cara. Great lockup, nice fit and finish, sharp enough to shave my arm out of the box....and I don't really care for it. It is a nice knife and maybe I would like the FRN or G10 scales better. I do like the Buck Mayo Hilo, the Kershaw Vapor II so its not just the metal grip. I will probably order a Byrd Meadowlark with synthetic scales of one kind or another. The Cara Cara is back in the box for now.

I have so far 3 Byrds: a G10 Meadowlark (sweet), a G10 Cara Cara (a huge one, the "very poor man's Manix" :D ) and a stainless Crossbill (scary one! ). I think I'll fly with a Pilot very soon... ;)

You are most definitely spot on about the stainless Crossbill being a scary one.. it would defintely be a very good deterent for anyone looking to mess with you, especially if you grip it in a reverse grip position.. :D

Looks absolutely murderous...

I really like how the Crossbill looks, however, I do not care for the all stainless knives. Someone on this forum mentioned that the Crossbill may be offered in a FRN and or G-10 version sometime soon - that would be VERY cool.
