I like this thing, for $28.00 it is just what the Doc ordered. The 1075 material is decent. I took a file to it to see just how hard or soft it might be, at some point I will check it on a hardness tester.

I am in the process of making a carry sheath for it so I can carry on a belt if needed. I have not tried throwing it but it feels like it may do well as a thrower. I know it is not an ATC Comanche but neither is it $274.00, so at first look, I would have to recommend it to those who want a combat style tomahawk but must mind their budget.

49 Pan, Thanks for the review, and welcome to the forums!

How do you think this would do, hangin' out in a Jeep as an off-roading tool? For the cost, it might just be the ticket to velcro to the floor under the seat.

I bought it with that purpose in mind along with a few others if need be. I do think for the money you could not go wrong. If you lost it you are not going to grieve as you would for one costing between $100 - $300.

I am betting it will hold up quite well. For $28.00 plus shipping I had to find out for myself.

Thanks brother. As your testing goes along, let us know what you think.

I was thinking about getting a couple and putting orange micarta on the throwers so I could find them in the grass and then get one and go tactical and use black or green micara on one of them or maybe a cord wrap.

I am going to put hickory handles on mine. That is another reason why I liked this version, you can do your own thing. The more expensive version is the same axe but with a sheath and some handle material.

I'm actually curious to find out how this one does. 1075 steel and good thickness. If it holds up well enough, I'd have to get myself one.

I have been throwing this thing a bit and I was pleased with the performance. The first throw was at an Oak tree at the corner of my house, it stuck the first time. It strikes blade first almost every time. I stuck the spike once.

I really like this thing, I am thinking of buying another. Someone out there is buying them because when I tried to order the first time they were sold out. I had to wait a week so the stock could be replenished.

49, have you used for anything other than throwing? I'm just curious how this one would work in an actual survival type situation (can it chop well, hold a decent edge, etc.). I know any axe will work, but I've always liked spike hawks. Also, in the woods of northern Minnesota, it isn't uncommon to see bear, wolves, and assorted other predators (even lynx on the rare occasion). I know a spike hawk isn't gonna' do much good against a bear, but it's better than nothing.

Spike him in the melon with all you got. Hopefully that will stop him, otherwise you'll have one pissed off bruin to deal with !! :D

My first instinct would be to wrestle the bear to the ground and then arm-bar it. Okay, not really. I'd probably run away. Fast.

Thats the reason I always hike with a friend, I take the hawk and smack him in the leg and then haul a$$ while the bears eating him :)

I will do so extensive chopping and I will let you know. I too am curious about how well the edge will hold up. First indication is that it may hold up fairly well. After many throws, the edge seemed to be almost as it was when I started. I did put a stone to it when I was done because I like things to be reasonably sharp.

(This is my first post guys, but I've been reading bladeforums for a long time)

Well I'm in college and I ordered on of these to my house a while back. Shortly thereafter the site went out of stock.

I've also been trying to find the "Baby spiked axe" but I've had a hell of a time on that one. I checked froogle and every site I checked had it sold out. Many of them seem to say they'l get it in on feb 28.

I plan to get one of their blades eventually, though not sure which.

Hey yall, where can you find a condor at for sale??? Cant seem to fine it with the search bar........

Here is an update on mine. I have thrown this thing many many times and have missed the target numerous times. I have hit concrete with the blade with only slight damage. A few passes on a stone and it was just fine. I have also done much chopping and it is great for limbing and cutting smaller diameter pieces. It is not a splitter, due to the thin profiled design and light weight, it does not lend itself to splitting. I still feel it is a great buy for the money. I would definitely buy another if I lost this one.

I've had the Condor throwing hawk for about 4 months now. The only thing I didjn't like about it was the handle length. I like my hawks with a 16-17 inch handle. With the large holes in the handle I just ordered some mild steel bag stock and drilled and attached them. I love it now. The added wieght to the handle made it throm not as good as before, but it just took some getting used to. Holds an edge great. Another problem is rust, which this thing will do very easily. BUT if you get the thrower you can get some sort of bake on laquer and trick it up very nicely. Still, I wish they had a 16 inch version.

Knife Center order flew through no problem...ordered the bare handled version...looks like a cinch to cord-wrap - gotta have something to play with while my Mineral Mountain Battle Hatchet is being "quenched" :D
