Am I just OCD or does this look a little off?

Locks pretty solid, but it doesn't go any further. I'll email in as well. :(

Emersons have a "break-in" period. Wave it a few dozen times and the lock up will become later. Very common with NIB Emersons...

my brand new cqc 15 looks the same way, just to be safe hold the handle so that your fingers are out of the way if the blade closes and give it a wiggle to see if lock will fail, but make sure your fingers are away from that blade!

I've been playing with it and same lock up. Seems solid. Keyword seems. Lol.

youll be ok all mine have done that, i just always make sure they wont fail on me, just in case.

I've had two Emersons and the lock up was fine as soon as I received them and they required no break in time.
Can you post pics of the knife at different angles?

Yea my Horseman did that. Just play with it opening and closing a bunch and that will fix itself. No worries.

Thanks. Emailed in and the response was it's normal. Should break in over the next week! AWESOME!

Open it 1800 times while watching Sportscenter, and then get back with us.

But no, that lockup does not look good to me. But lets see if it improves.

Chris, I'm pretty sure your a local guy I used to see at local car meets. My cqc10 looked like that from new. Now with use it has moved over slightly. Dont worry and enjoy your knife.

quick question, where did you get yours? I have been trying to track one down for a while with no luck. any suggestions?

There is no need to email. Take your knife apart with some screw drivers. Clean all the parts, and reassemble it. That should fix the off lock up.

True, but all knives have a break in period. Just like anything else, shoes, guns, clothes, etc. I don't agree that this is common, at least in my experience. The last I've bought have been smooth and have appropriate lock up.

Have you tried maybe browsing the for name of the knife online? These aren't being sold secretly after all. ;)

My most recent Emerson had an early lock-up like this one, and with about 6 months of good use, it hasn't broken in too much. Do I trust the lock-up? Yes. You know why? Because I'm not punching holes in car hoods, taking out sentries, or doing anything stupid. Mind you, mine wasn't quite as early as yours, so maybe a little polish is in order on the liner, and blade. Worked wonders on my end.

Either way, nice blade. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the responses. It seems to be wearing in. I'll try everyone's suggestions.

I acquired it here from a member. I lucked out.

Break in will help but as Rev mentioned, take it completely apart, clean, oil and reassemble first.
