I just received my Chris Reeve Mk-VI from Chai Cutlery. I can't say enough about their service, it's excellent. I e-mailed Chai Cutlery and Edgy Tools an inquiry last Friday night. Egdy Tools has yet to respond to my e-mail.

The knife is perfect and hair poppin' sharp. The leather sheath is also very well made but I might look into getting a custom Kydex one made anyway.

I hope you all won't be disappointed, I don't intend to file any log splitting, car stabbing, hole digging, raft building, dog skinning test reports. I think I'll just look at it for awhile.

Now for the big question. What do I put in the handle? I'm sure that this forum is full of ideas about that.

Yours Truly,

About 2 weeks ago I posted a thread titled Strange Chris Reeve Question. There are several responses regarding survival/field equipment that is suited for storage in the handle.

Roll up a few hundred dollar bills, put them in the handle and mail the knife to me!

Seriously, I just got a Shadow IV directly from CRK. Great knife. Fantastic workmanship. I've been very impressed with the consistent quality control and the great customer service of CRK. I met Chris at Blade Show West on Friday; he is a good guy.

How about a rolled up Tuff Cloth? It will help keep the A-2 safe where the coating wears off, and the airtight handle should keep the Tuff-Cloth ready to use. I might just do that with my Project One.

So far I have added the following items to my hollow handled Mk-IV. 1) Fire starter made from 3/4" piece of tampon smeared with petroleum jelly (wrapped in the fingertip of a latex glove). 2) A small spool of dental floss (=/- 75'. 3) 12" of duct tape rolled around a thin paper tube. 4) 12 strike anywhere matches. 4) 1 latex condom (emergency canteen).

I should probably throw in a few iodine tablets if I can make them fit.
