Thanks to Roger at Bayou La Fourche I just got my CRKT Kasper/Polkowski!! (I had sent him and email weeks ago saying I wanted the first one out of the chute and I think I got it!) It is a great knife for not much money: $28.99!! For that money it is a steal compared to the stiff KISS models which sell for nearly as much. The sheaths are much improved over the KISS with great IWB, neck, and strap carry options! It fits great and has good balance. I don't think aus6 was a great steel choice for this knife but what can I expect in this price range. It came shaving sharp out of the box and will make a great utility knife. I do not intend to "test" it's edge holding because everyone knows aus6 isn't going to win a contest in that area! I WILL say that the fit and finish is great, the grind lines are crisp and even, and I woul recommend it to anyone for a good utility fixed blade. HOWEVER, IMHO it seems too heavy for neck carry even though there are cord and chain options included to facilitate that option. (That is strictly speculation since I do not normally use that mode of carry.)

It could be, Jason, that if you wear a sturdy pith helmet in the new climate you're moving to, that it will build up your neck muscles to the point that a "mere" 6.5 oz won't seem to heavy.

(Could tell you long, nearly pointless story hear, but will spare you that. Know you're busy with your preparations.)

However your neck works out, hope that the knife serves you well,

Thanks Dave! I am thinking of removing the scales and polishing the blade to reduce the chance of rust . . . might clash with my pith helmet though!!

(It will actually spend most of its time under the seat of the truck down there)
