And I couldnt be happier. This knife is built like a tank, excellent work John. I tried finding something wrong with it and couldnt. The firestarter knife is like a mini mini me version of the bigger one. I cant wait to go out and use em this weekend and get some action shots.

Thanks again John

The lighting is terrible. The firekit knife has the same color scales/liners as my custom knife.

Excellent!

So, what is the name of your custom design? I just read the post about it; it turned out great!

John did a good job with the blade design.

cool setup rooikat. Id like one like yours with a 7" or so blade.

Im not sure the name of mine, I dont reckon it has one.

The 7" plus blade size is called the RUSK MAX. I have one on order for this month.
The standard size makes a great carry knife. With the sheath John made for me, it rides high on the belt, stays out of the way.

You need a name for your creation. Something cool.

I honestly cant think of a good name, I normally get my internet names and whatnot from movies, 10 internet pionts if you know which movie my screenname on here came from lol.

The name I personally use for it is "squirrel skinner" lol, that is one of the main tasks it performs afterall. I know this name wouldnt float other peoples boats and it can do alot more such as camp/survival/hunting or even as EDC.

I've been away from JK knives for a while, what is that large knife pictures with a bit of a forward slant to it? Size/specs? I like it!

I believe it's the RUSK, but I'm sure Rooikat could tell you more

Here is my design, the 'Rooikat', finally sized for viewing by a splendid gentleman and role model for us all.

What do you think? Top is my update, bottom is the original.
I am planning it in natural (tan) canvas micarta, with a natural (tan) leather sheath.
Knife is 8 3/4" long. I designed the handle to fit my hand. I have been measuring and gripping and erasing for months, now.

I came up with the clip point 'cause everything is better with a clip point.
Plus, it looks cool.
It is small enough to be used as a boot or personal survival knife, but big enough to actually be useful. I also planned it out so that the blade could be upsized and still work out.

My original plans are on their way to John, as I type this.

Here are the specs!
