Thanks to Jaxx, I've just recieved my first piece of INFI!

Pulling it out of it's cardboard sheath was, I suppose, a lot like seeing the ocean for the first time. Like....wow....absolutely breath-taking.

I can't believe how heavy this thing is. I really thought that a .25" thick chopper would be a little anemic, which is why I was initially shopping around for an FFBM. Now I'm very happy that I didn't. I'm pretty sure this thing weighs more than my 16" chiriwa ang khola. I really do feel like I could delimb an elephant now.

Here's a pic with my other favorite knives, an RD-7 and a customized Ka-Bar impact. Sorry about the quality of these, only camera I have is a cell-phone. :thumbdn:

The only gripe that I have with the knife so far is the thickness of the handles. I have pretty tiny hands so I opted for regular handles instead of mags, but these handles are reeeally thin. Here's a comparison to the RD-7.

I do love the texture of the G10 though. Nice and smooth without being slippery.

So who would you suggest for hooking me up with pants for her? I'm kinda thinking some sort of shoulder rig, so she's not always pulling mine down.

Also, how do you suggest I sharpen her? I have the Sharpmaker and a variety of different grits of sandpaper.

Awesome!! Your first being a Mistress is very cool! Now go chop the *@&% out of something!!

Good choice! that cgfbm is sweet! Ban is convexing mine at the moment.:D

Hard to think of a better way to be introduced to INFI than a Battle Mistress! Congrats!

ETG-

Congratulations! I have an FFBM with regular handles, and found them too thin, also. Wrapped the handle with one thickness of standard saran-type wrap from the kitchen, then over that did a tight wrap with electrical tape until the handle filled out to suit my hand perfectly. The cling wrap is in case I want to remove the tape without leaving a bunch of gummy adhesive from the electrical tape bonded to the micarta grips.

This setup also cushions the grip a little, and if you should ever have to do some truly violent batoning or hammering on the spine, I'm hoping the tight tape wrap will also absorb some of the punishment and take stress off the flared-tube handle fasteners--kinda like a kid will tape up the broken handle of a baseball bat to extend its life.

Now get out there and beat the hell out of her! She'll love it!

Glad you like her!!! Now, about the matter of payment... :grumpy: ;):D LOL

...Just having fun with ya, Eight Trigrams!! See, I'd love to take credit for this deal, and you did reach out to me about the one I have up for sale, but I'm not the one who sold you this Mistress.... :)

... The one you contacted me about has Magnum grips on it. :foot:

I'm glad you got one, and she's a beauty! So... Have ya used her yet?

If you like kydex....I would go with BuyBrown. MashedCat, Okudan, Steelnut, and David E are all pro kydex benders too though.

For ze leazer, (my attempt at a fake german accent is even worse in type than it is out loud). Leatherman, MikeyMoto, Chuddybear, and......and.....uh....I had 4 names in my head a second ago, but only three came out...I'll edit them in if I remember. All three of those fellas are pretty serious leather artists imho.

I don't recall anyone offering shoulder rigs offhand....I'm sure that at least one of the sheath makers I posted could set ya up with something though.
I remember someone posting about their shoulder harness setup.....I think it was Knife Hunter in his WV roundup thread...I'll see if I can track it down for you.

I was close...but not quite there. It was on this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=550724
which lead to the WV roundup. Here's a pic of his setup, I think he altered a standard sheath into a shoulder rig...not sure though.

Knife Hunter and Uncle J........

Sorry I didn't ask your permission before posting these pics....figured it would be okay since they have already been posted. If either of you has an issue with it, I offer you my most humble apologies, and I'll take them back down immediately.

very nice knife. the CG FBM was my first as well, and i also remember thinking, holy crap this is heavy.

Leatherman does the dundee rig, as well as shoulder rigs, and he does great work. Also, I believe Greg Lightfoot sells a shoulder rig on his website. Rob Hummelbaugh over at www.survivalsheathsystems.com can probably make anything you want if you can provide him with specs or a good idea.

Congrats on your first Mistress!

One advantage to thinner grips is you can easily make them thicker to fit.

Another carry option is a Baldric, that's what knife hunter has rigged up for himself. Search the W&S forum for more info on braiding your own, or buy a nice leather one here:

http://www.knivesshipfree.com/Sheaths/c489/index.html?page=2

that is just the Baldric, you still need a sheath to hang from it.
