I just got my new BK16 in the mail minutes ago. This thing is tiny! I knew it was going to be small, but for some reason I thought it'd be a little bigger than this. But this is pretty much perfect size for me. My other first impressions: the handle is super nice. I have small hands and this is just perfect. Some people say it's a little thin, which it is, but because I have small hands I can get a solid, comfortable grip on this knife. I also think it is a little bit pricey for it's size (I got it for $70). I think I got my BK2 for around the same price, which is twice the size. But, I have no regrets of purchasing this knife at all. I'm planning on getting the micarta scales is the future, and I might end up stripping it. I think I'll end up making a leather sheath too. I'm thinking of trying horizontal crossdraw, and this knife seems like the perfect size for this. I think I'll definitely be enjoying this knife in the future, and I'll be having some fun with mods :D. Nice job Ethan!

I've heard people say that their 16 came dull. Just tested it on paper. This thing is pretty dang sharp. I might touch it up on the Sharpmaker though.

I just purchased one as well. My first Becker was the 9 so they all seem small :D I second your statements about the handles. As much as I wish the King was perfect for everything a small knife works better in some situations.

Yeah with the 2 trying to come in between a big chopper and a smaller, finer knife, it's really hindered in both aspects. I think this 16 plus my Laplander will work real well  .

Congrats on the new arrival.
You now have two choices....
Buy another BK16, before it's too late. (Just kidding - it's never too late...but you shouldn't wait too long, if you want to fit in around here)
or
Buy a BK15, before it's too late. (There is a time limit on that one...but they aren't going to disappear next week)

I have yet to have a Becker come less than hair popping sharp. Usually use factory edge and strop until I can't get it back to shaving. Then it goes on the Ken Onion Work Sharp. Exception is the 24. Still trying to figure out what to do with the D2.

I'm not sure what you mean by "time limit"?

OP, you got a good one. Looking forward to seeing some action shots and hearing your thoughts about it.

Doesn't matter if you have the same blade every other Becker owner has, you always MUST post pics! We love nothing more than to see a nice purty new BK before it goes through its "transformation"....

Oh, and congrats on the wonderful blade!

Congrats on the new blade. you will definitely like the Micarta handles, they made a huge difference on mine.

Speaking as a guy who pays his mortgage and puts food on the table making and selling handmade knives...

If I had to pick one current factory-made knife for general-purpose, EDC, survival, bushcraft, self-defense, hunting/fishing and whatever-else... considering all the many options available in a wide range of prices... I'd choose the Becker BK-16 with the sheath it comes in, and put either a sturdy multi-tool and/or a smaller multi-tool and/or a ceramic sharpening rod and a ferro-rod in the pouch.

Congratulations on the new acquisition. The BK16 is just the right size - not too big and not to small.

I guess I made a good choice! I am liking the original sheath, but I think I might make one just for fun and something a little different. I also don't like how it has no retention at all without the straps.

When I first received the knife it came with two of the same brown scales. I shot kabar an email and within a few days they sent me a new set.
