Holy. Crap. I understand where the tolerances and fit and finish talk comes from. These are unreal. Late lock up but I guess that's normal? Anyway, large sebenza is next but that's going to have to wait a few weeks at least.

From what I've heard the lockup never changes any noticeable amount, and you bought your first 2 CRKs at once? You were much braver than me, I just bought a large sebenza, it will be here tomorrow. Enjoy the knives!

Late lock up seems very common as is early and everything in between. The most important thing is it won't move much for the life of your knife.

yeah I bought two at once, the umnum wasn't planned so much just kind of impulsed it but glad I did. The small insingo was made July 27th 2012. Minty fresh. The umnum is from Feb. of this year. Good to know in regards to the lock up, both of these lock up around 50% or even 60 I'd say.

I've always found lockup to change (on Seb's) after the first cleaning. Mine all went right to 50% and stay there after months of use. Maybe I've just been lucky, but it's worth a try.

These are unreal.
Way to bust into the CRK Arena 2-at-a-time like a Boss and even with a Boss. When I ordered my Small Sebby, it was a last minute decision to add the Boss, I just couldn't resist the profile of that blade (still trips my trigger whenever I see it ~ and that's every day.:)). Of course, my decision to add the Boss resulted in an urgent notification to my Boss. Thankfully, she tolerates my obsessions.

Any-hoot, back to your blades. I've been trying real hard to resist the Insingo, but seeing those 2 unique blades side-by-side in your pic, it's obvious that I'm powerless to prevent the inevitable. The Insingo looks like a mini-cleaver and I dig it, allot. Congrats!

It's weird, both my Sebbies have earlier lockup now than from the factory. I've cleaned and reassembled them several times. Both have settled right around 50% and both were about 70% out of box. They seem to have that part down pretty well at CRK.

I think cleaning is just sweet on a Sebenza. One screw and you're out with the blade. It's an under 5min job. Pretty cool :D

Late lockup's fixable. Unscrew all 3 screws a little bit, hold it with your thumb pushing up from the bottom on the lock side, and your middle finger pushing down from the top on the non lock side and tighten the screws. There's a video on youtube.

Thanks for the tips on the lock up, I'll give those a try but to be completely honest it doesn't even bother me too much. Just take getting used to seeing it worst case but I'll try the fix just for the heck of it. Also, yes the insingo blade is awesome, at first I couldn't decide between small, large, inlay, no inlay but one thing I knew for sure is I wanted insingo. I like that sturdy tip.

Late lockup is the norm. Sebenza - 75% lockup is well within spec. With the umnumzaan - there is a ceramic ball in the lock bar face that is designed to make contact with the blade tang at 50%, so it appears the titanium lockbar is over too far. Look at the blade tang - you should see a mark at the halfway point - if you do yours is good.

I strongly recommend you do NOT adjust the lockbar on any CRK - if you do you run the risk of voiding the warranty. If you have concerns - contact CRK and let them take a look at it.

Welcome to the CRK family.

roger that, yes the mark is halfway and like I said earlier as long as its in spec then it doesn't even bother me. Thanks for the welcome.

just as a follow up, you guys were right about the lock up changing, on the small seb at least. Took it apart for the heck of it and when I put it back together it's now around 30-35%. Blade is still perfectly centered too.
