Everyone on the forum has always said good things about Bob Dozier's work, so I have been wanting one recently . . .

so, when I found a (barely) used model K2 for an outstanding price at the Edgerton, WI knife show today, I had to get it! It fits the hand very nicely, has burgandy micarta instead of black, and came with an excellent kydex sheath.

The Show wasn't that crowded today (Fri), but there were some notable makers--Matthew Lerch and Chuck Hawes had some really eye-catching pieces. Also met a maker named Chuck Steffen who did very fine work.

You're going to like your Dozier. It cuts. Joe Talmadge knows sharp. He wrote the Blade Forums Sharpening FAQ. In two seperate posts Joe says "invariably" the sharpest knives at the shows are Dozier's. Here's the URL to one of the posts:

I have a Dozier, got my wife one and am waiting for another. Enjoy yours
Summerland. They cut.

Congrats! Bob makes some wonderful knives (and sheaths). You cannot go wrong with any of his knives. Best bang for the buck out there (IMHO).

There are other reasons to be content that you own a treasure Summerland. As A.G. Russell says, "Bob Dozier has been one of America’s foremost makers of handmade knives since about 1968." Mr. Dozier has been tweaking his own heat treatment for over thirty years. It may be pretty good by now. We users can improve the handle (e.g. checkering), sharpening and carry. But we can't change the steel, blade geometry and heat treat. That heat treating is an art, a secret art. To me it's most of the magic.
I'm more comfortable with a maker who is experienced.

And as I mentioned, Dozier's cut. You can get yours to shave without touching skin.

enjoy,

Good choice there, here is one of Bob's that I picked up through the forums here, very nice shape and also it CUTS....

The handle scales are Walnut, a little different than the normal micarta.

Nice looker Gary. Unusual. Is the rivet brass? Mine are aluminum. Think I'd prefer brass.

Enjoy your new Dozier, Summerland. He makes great knives and, as AJ said, gives a good bang for the buck.

I like the non-standard handle materials myself. Gary, yours is a beauty. Here's my Canoe model with maple burl scales:

BTW, bug, the rivet & hole liner are brass.

I just received a Pro Guide with ivory micarta scales yesterday but haven't gotten around to taking pics yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what goodies Bob has with him at the NY Custom show in three weeks.

Bug, yep they are brass, shines up nice...but you do need to keep it shined up, the wood has some light streaks running through it, very sweet. The blade is almost a wharncliff with just the area near the tip raised up to cut some items easier, works well and razor sharp as usual...Nice looking knife Brian!

Thanks, Gary. BTW, for folks who may not know, Bob's new web site is finally up & running.

Found this after doing a search on Dozier knives and had to add my $.02. I just picked up a couple of Dozier's folders and have been blown away by them. The first is the titanium handled Buckhunter with the double liner lock, the other is the Trapper with G-10 handles and also has a double lock, although a bit different than the BH. Both are absolutley razors! the BH is without a doubt a heavy duty folder. The double lock will not allow any movement of any type. The 5/32" thick, 3.75" long blade is a real cutter. I really like the clip point style as it lends itself to many dfferent tasks. The Trapper has a 1/8 x 3.5 inch blade. Shape is an "easy clip", I beleive that is what it is termed. The liners are almost as thick as the blade! Lock up is solid. Both make use of bronze washers which I like better than nylatron. I tend to tighten the blaes pretty tight and have had problems with tearing other washers.
The fit and finish are outstanding on both of these folders. The only complaint I have is neither came with a pocket clip. I am in the process of contacting Dozier Knives to see about a retrofit for this.
Just felt the need to throw this in, as I am obviously pleased with the knives of Bob Dozier!

I acquired a K1 a couple of years ago and must admit that I think it's my personal favorite. Takes a great edge and it's nearly nuke proof. It's my general utility and hunting fixed blade.
