Just took delivery of my first two Emerson knives yesterday. I was only planning to get one but after debating it for a while I couldn't choose. I've handled the Mini-Commander before and always wanted a CQC-7B. Having put in a lot of unwanted OT at work I decided to treat myself to both. I chose the Mini-Commander BT and the Mini CQC-7B BT.
Mini-Commander BT:
As stated before I handled one a couple of years back at a local shop. It did have a little play to it and was getting loose. I figured it was from people abusing it trying to wave it and the shop not maintaining the demo like they should have. The one I got really put my doubts to rest. The action is smooth and locks up real nice. It's exactly what I was hoping for. Only real flaw is some of the coating on the edge of the pocket clip appears to have scraped off the somehow. I plan to carry it occasionally but will probably keep it in my bag more often than my pocket.
Mini CQC-7B BT:
Having always liked the CQC-7B I decided to try the smaller Mini CQC-7B. For some reason I was expecting it to be slightly larger but the size is perfect for me for pocket EDC. Smooth like the Mini-Commander, locks up clean, and fit and finish is better than I expected it to be. The edge on this thing is amazing. I can see myself carrying this one often and picking up the full size version.
Just one question about these knives. What is the meaning of the number under the thumb disc?
