Okay, let me explain the frowny face. I really like this knife. I love the delica, and this is a delica on crack with a red bull iv. BUT....there's blade play. Vertical blade play. Its about 2mm at the tip. I got it new off Amazon, but Amazon listed it as from 2008, so I don't know if its an early one with an issue that was fixed later. Is this normal? I remember sal saying something about play in lockbacks designed for strength, so I don't want to send it in and be without it, then have it come back in the same condition. I could live with it if it was normal,as long as it wont get worse. Fyi, the play seems to be caused by the blade lifting the lock bar out of the notch a tiny amount before it sets in tight. Help?

that doesnt sound normal to me. every endura i've ever owned locked up nice and tight with no detectable vertical movement. if you bought it off amazon, i'd suggest just returning it and buying a new one. btw, you can check the date of manufacture on your spyderco by looking at the two letter date code on the box. the letters correspond to their position on the alphabet. first letter being month, second letter being year.

I have 5 Enduras and a fair number of other mid lock knives and they all have vertical blade movement. 2mm at the tip is not uncommon in my findings. If you make a really hard cut with most mid locks you will probably notice some play...some have more than others.

I can feel a little bit of vertical movement in the blade of mine if I'm really forcing down while cutting something thick. However, there is no play at all in any direction when the knife is just locked open.

If you're not personally happy with the knife, send it back.

Sounds normal to me. Especially with FRN scales. There's always a tiny bit of wiggle in them from my experience.

I own 2 of them both the same model and i has a little play and the other is rock solid.i have been carrying the one with play for some years now as my beater ,i figured since it had a little play id wreck that one first,ya right, that knife has stood up to an inhuman amount of abuse and it just laughs at me,absolutely no issues at all.i wouldnt lose any sleep over your knife at all,i am sure it will hold up just fine!

I have owned two Enduras, and both had a weee bit of horizontal blade play (almost not noticeable) and absolutely no vertical play. Doesn't sound right to me.
