Well. like the title says I just got my first JK. I bought it off of the exchange here at BF.
It is a Kephart, but wat makes this one especially interesting to me is that it is a stout Kephart, which is 3/16 thick. This bad boy is a beast!! The previous owner said that he had the convex edge worked over by Bam. That has to be a good thing, as I have only heard good things about his work.
Keep in mind that this is a user knife. Upon arrival the blade was sharp, but not quite as sharp as I would have liked. Thats cool bcause it gave me a chance to try out sharpening a convex edge for the first time. I read up on convex edges and decided to build my own strop. And all I can say is wow. I never thought I could get such a thick blade hair shaving sharp, but it is.
I thought it was awesome that I could get such a great edge on this knife. After all it was my first time sharpening a convex edge with my first homemade strop. So I walked over to my lovely wife and showed her how sharp it was by shaving off a big patch of hair off of my leg. She was not quite as impressed as I was, but thats okay. I beleive her response was something along the line of "I dont get it, it must be a man thing!!"
Anyways here are the pics I took this afternoon:
Stomper, you are an amazing craftsman. This is such a high quality knife. The attention to detail and fit and finish is amazing. And the best part of all is that I got it second hand so it is allready broke it and I wont be afraid to use it cause it's too pretty!!!
