Just got my first Military

Hello,

About an hour ago I received my first Military and I like it a lot. The tip down only carry doesn't bother me as much as I expected it to and with such a long handle I think its probably the easiest way to carry it. I noticed two very small changes I might make if it bugs me enough in the next few days. The cut out that is used to access the liner lock has a small point right where is starts to transition to the top choil. Its very minor but I could start to feel a hot spot when I was cutting up some cardboard. The other thing is the top choil. The blade has great jimping cut into the choil but half of it is covered by the handle scales. They aren't milled all the way down flush with the choil. Only maybe 2mm of g10 needs to be sanded to fully expose all the jimping and it would slightly enlarge the choil too. Anyone done this to their Military? If I wasn't comparing the Military and my Para2 side by side I probably never would have noticed it. The only complaint I have with the Military is the choil. I wish it matched my Para2.

Have a good one,

Chris

Yeah I sanded down my M390/CF Military to show all the jimping in the bottom choil. It's much better that way IMO.

dunno. the tactile jimp above or below was never an issue with me. and for a handle as big as the military, it's even less important. i'm more partial to the mid-hold and choke-down position. and few folders have handles longer than 5 inches.

it doesn't get better than a military!

By far the military is my favorite edc. I have 3 now, and hope to have a few more before too long. Hope your serves you well.

The condition around the top choil never bothered me much,
but hey, different strokes for different folks. Tweak it to your
specs. The military is an awesome knife.

Socalkid,

If you want to modify your knife then by all means go for it. In case you didn't know, the choil is designed that way. It's called a 50/50 choil, meaning that it is comprised of 50% blade and 50% handle. If the jimping were fully exposed all the way on the choil it would no longer be a 50/50. :)
