Just yesterday I finally received my kestrel it took about 3 or so months to get but well worth the wait. I love this thing and it's easily my favorite piece. The only concern I have is how sharp it came, the edge looks great but it won't even slice paper. For you other guys who also have one of these hawks is that normal? I'm not sure if I'm just being picky and was expecting more for the cost and hype or if I just got one that slipped past?
Either way I'll probably just touch it up myself and see if I can't get it hair popping sharp.
Thanks guys I'll take some pictures later probably.

I know nothing about the Kestral, however, the Shrike is not meant to slice anything. It is an edge meant to destroy bricks, cinder blocks and other "incredibly tough" materials . Don't worry about the edge. Carry a Para-military and the tomahawk will take care of everything else.

As far as I know they all are robust breaching hawks designed for breaking stuff.

Both my Shrike and my Jenny Wren came VERY SHARP !
The Shrike would cut paper and card board well, the JW did better because it's so much thinner behind the edge.

They're great people, call them up and ask them about your Kestrel. I have no doubt that if it isn't right that they'll make it right.

Thanks guys I may call them up but I don't want to be a bother and I'm deffinatly not shipping back down there and back here. I was just curious if it was normal.

I have a JW and Shrike s13. They came sharp but not hair popping. They are for chopping and breaching not shaving. That would make the edge more prone to chipping.
You should be able to hone it to your liking.
Congrats on your new hawk
