Hey guys, so generally speaking I'm a lurker, I just really love to read through threads in my spare time, but I rarely post. However, today I think I have something worth posting over. I've been into knives for a while, but only joined the forums early this year. I remember the first time I was flipping through edc threads and saw a Sebenza I kinda perked up and looked a little closer. I was really intrigued by the smooth, mostly unadorned titanium and the clean lines. I also have to admit, I also love the blue anodized parts contrasted against the gray titanium. Anyway, I'm pretty fresh out of school and about to get married, so money is pretty tight, but I decided to pinch my pennies for the past few months, and after some frugal waiting, bought myself a little something for Christmas. I got the large 21 Insingo. I also figured hell, if the Mayans say the world is gonna end tomorrow anyway, at least I'll get something fun before I die.

Anyway, package came in today, and after a couple hours of handling, I'm crazy about it. After reading all the threads about people being underwhelmed, I expected to have the same experience; but honestly I'm floored by this knife. It's the sharpest knife I've ever had straight from the factory, slips great in the pocket and seems just about the right size. Lockup is solid and I can't get any blade play no matter how hard I try. Plus, the simplicity of the titanium is just sexy. I love this knife, I think I've finally figured out what all the fuss is about. So, I just had to share some excitement since none of my friends are knife folks. I'll try to throw in some poorly taken photos just for kicks, because if I was reading the thread, I'd want to see some photos!

I got my first sebenza 6 mos ago, a small and then a large micarta. Now a busse sarge 7. With a lifetime of playing with knives, I am blown away by the quality of the Sebenza (and busse). The more I use these blades, the more I appreciate the zen like quality.
Congrats again, nice to have the best!
Cheers

I'm in a similar boat... my first CR came in earlier this week. The build quality is pretty awesome; I was particularly impressed when I dis- and re-assembled it to remove the lanyard pin. Everything went back together smooth and tight as could be. The simplicity is just refreshing.

And you're right, pics are a must! :D

Congrats and welcome to the madness, the love only becomes greater and deeper with every time you use your sebbie, enjoy.

I know! I took mine apart almost as soon a I got it (not a huge lanyard fan) and it seems like it would be almost impossible to reassemble incorrectly. The tolerances are pretty astounding, everything fits together so perfectly that you can't mess it up. Your's is gorgeous, by the way. What's on the pocket clip?

I wanted to go with something other than plain Ti, but anything else is kind of hard to find in a left-hand version. So I ended up going with the starburst pattern from Wilson Combat, which I think they call the "Starbenza." The marking on the clip is their logo.

Thanks! My wallet is already cringing thinking about how nice a small might be.

How about it? I have had a large for a while now, maybe 9 months, and it just gets better. I have yet to drop a wad on the small but i'm sure it would be awesome too. Maybe the small in weak side pocket and large strong side? :D

Welcome, and congrats! It will last you a lifetime. Wise decision to save up and get a really great knife like you wanted.

Hmmm... maybe I need one. The small is all my life demands of a knife but the large is so nice to have.

Congrats on your first Chris Reeve knife. It's a beauty. I don't have many but enjoy each one and my small insingo is my favorite user.

Welcome to the start of many more CRKs that you will end up buying! :) I'm up to a Zann, two large Sebenzas, two small Sebenzas, and now saving for a 25. But wait..... I think I may need a large and small in micarta too!!

Welcome and congrats!
This is way cool to start.

What exactly do you mean by ".... none of my friends are knife folks."
We are your friends. :D

Good Point! That was the whole reason I joined up in the first place.

Welcome to the dark side, why the dark you ask? The dark represents the black emptiness that your wallet will forever have where your money used to be ;D

Your first knife will be my next CRK, I won't get into how many I've had, or even how many I have right now, but I'll tell you that your amazing Large Insingo will not be your last. My small Insingo is my favorite small, can't wait to get the large. My 25 will have to do until then.

See you around on the FS threads.
