Just got my first Spyderco today, a plain edged Dragonfly. Went to the knife store in the mall today to check on some prices and got to talking to the clerk about Spyderco knives especially the Endura's. At work (CompuUSA Retail sales) I open a few boxes a day when stocking and my manager has imposed a 3" blade limit on folders so I picked up the Dragonfly.

It's a nice little knife. Came really sharp. Cuts veggies really good. I like it's sharp point and full flat ground blade. Have spent the last 10 minutes slicing a USPS Shipping box. This knife sure is sweet. :D Am really glad I got it. Now I want more... Kiwi, Endura and another I forgot it's name. I collect SOG's and old Westerns, now it looks like I'll be collecting a few Spyders too. :D

Thanks for the great knife!!

I feel ya! I bought a Centofante II six weeks ago and now have a Calypso Jr & Endura SS. A S30V Native should arrive Monday!

What's happened to me??

Wildmanh:

You would probably like the Delica, which is similar to the Endura but smaller, or the Calypso Jr, which is different but has a flat grind like the Dragonfly. Both are larger than the dragonfly but just within your 3" limit. I have both in front of me. If you measure all the way back to the handle (ie, including a tang portion in the length), the Calypso Jr is 1/8 inch short and the Delica hits it almost exactly.

Oh boy. We have another junkie on board.
When the wife or girl friend starts wondering about you just let em know there are worse addictions out there and to just leave you alone. :)

Two of the three first replies name-dropped the Calypso Jr. :)

You know why? It's frickin' sweet. I used to have a SS Dragonfly, but I traded it because I never carried it. Even though they're not far apart in size, the Caly Jr handles and cuts like a much larger knife.

Like others have said, it's only a matter of time before you start exhibiting symptoms of Spyderholicism. We're still working on a 12-step program, but right now the recommended treatment is.........

............. just go with it. :D:cool:

Thanks guys. I carried the Dragonfly all night and almost forgot it was clipped to my pocket because it's so small and light. Carl64, It's the Delica I wanted, just couldn't remember the name when posting yesterday afternoon, thanks for the reminder. :)

Handled the Native and couldn't put it down. The blade and handle are awesome!! When I first checked out Spyderco I didn't care for it so much, now that I've handled one, I want it too!! The list of knives I want are Delica, Endura, and S30V Native. When I first got on the Forums and started posting I wanted 1 KHukuri. With in a few months I had 6. Bet it will be the same with these Spydercos. :D

There is no Wife or Girl friend in my life right now, so once I get a hospital bill payed off my knife buying will increase and those Spyders will be at the top of my list. I'm already tempted to hit the mall today to get the Delica. Is there no cure??? (Not that I'd want one ;))

I just picked uo a S30V Native this weekend. I was a little surprised by how small it was, (I thought it was bigger for some reason) But, it's a really nice little knife! I didn't like the fact that it had rivets insted of screws, but now I see that with this knife they don't seem to be needed. :D

Wildmanh's already a junkie. We just upgraded him to Spydie-dom.

Dragonfly is a nice little knife. It does feel much more substantial than the FRN Calypso, IMO. Then again, steel vs. FRN isn't much of a comparison. But my Calypso feels like it has a very precise blade - wouldn't want to go prying with it. I do baby it because it's probably the sharpest blade I own. Dragonfly begs for abuse.

.... you lost your paddle :D

I too, have got bit by the Spydie bug. I went from having 1, a FRN PE Endura, to now having 5 Spydies since May. I now have Endura, Meerkat PE, Pacific Salt SE, FRN PE Merlin and a blue handled Native III. I really love the handles on the Native, that knife rocks. I carry at least 3 of them every day, no I am not paranoid!!

Congrats on your new purchase. Spydys are state of the art and some of the best values around with IMHO the best materials and ergonomics.
I say this with sincerity but just the thought of 'No more Spydys' gets me all nervous and jerky. Does this indicate addiction?
A little while back I acquired a Paramilitary with black blade and the jolt was so strong, I am still in hog heaven.

Be careful. This could happen to you too!

You should all try the Methadone approach and get smaller and smaller Spydies. Then MAYBE the monkey would leave.

maybe.

:D

Congrats on your new fine knife. Indeed a small knife with lot of cutting power. And it feels pretty nice in the hand too :)
