I just did a trade for a sword, a full tang Ninja, wave pattern blade. I believe it is 420J2 from Ontario, not 100% sure, but I believe so...

Anything I should know? As far as care or sharpening? How easily does 420J2 rust?

I love it though, very cool...

Anyway website that explains the different japanese sword blades?

420J2 is one of the most rust-resistant steels used in blades though it does not have good edge-holding ability. If your sword is a real Ontario Black Wind sword it will be made of 1095. Imitation Ontarios are often made of 420J2. 1095 is a good all-around steel with good edge-holding and toughness though it does rust. If you dry and maybe oil it after getting it wet you should not have a problem with rust. Don't store a wet blade in the sheath.

DeathDancer, FYI, I got this message when I tried to follow your link:

I am not as familiar with the little insider aspects of Netiquet as I perhaps ought to be, but what in the deuces does that mean?

This is a limitted access website. Sometimes the access overloads and this message comes up. This is the Website for learning about the Japanese Sword, IMHO. Try again in a few days. So far, while it may not be complete, it is the most comprehensive place for terminology.
