Traded my Lum tanto for it and it came today. Sal and company, I am very impressed. If someone can tell me what, if anything, about this knife is less than custom quality, I'd like to hear it.

The knife is ridiculously sharp out of the box. As for the tip-up/down option, I think I will leave it down. I can't stop Spydie-dropping.

I'm ordinarily a huge critic of linerlocks, but it makes sense here in a sleek, slim, beautiful knife like this. And even though I belive liner locks are often safer when you carry them tip-up (I know I'm in the minority here, but I keep the spine against my pocket seam), I feel safe carrying this one either way.

I'll probably post a better review once I get over how well this knife is made. A couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd found my sub-3.5" everyday knife, but I just tossed it in my bag when I opened up the Lum.

Thank you Shmakey. There were many people involved in this design and construction. They all did an excellent job. This knife has all of the modern features we've been able to develop in the Walker linerlock.

Now that I've had it for a few days, I have a question: Exactly what kind of solvent can I use to remove the small amount of adhesive under the clip in the tip-down position? I've been switching back and forth to see which I prefer. Would nail-polish remover do the trick? I don't want to buy a quart of mineral spirits just to take off this little spot. And I definitely don't want to ruin the finish of my new favorite knife.

I've not dealt with your specific problem, but I've had good success with a product called "Goo Gone". I've used it anywhere I needed to remove the "goo" without damaging finishes.

Can hardly wait to lay my hands on the "new" blueish model ;) scheduled to arrive in September.

Wow! I was thinking yesterday how great a blue version would be. How dark is the blue?

Blue? Did you say BLUE? Now that's what I'm talking about! I'll wait. Patiently, yeah right, come on September! :D

Gun metal blue is how it was described at the Spyderco forum. I can't wait. I already have one ordered.

This is what Joyce at SFO had to say regarding the blue Chinese Folder:
Evidently, we are making 1000 pieces of blue handled Chinese Folders, C65BLP (plainedge only), for our German Distributor, Böker. They are the same price as the green. There will be a couple hundred extras made for our collector club and a limited amount available to the public.

I just received my Lum Chinese #216 and love it. This one, though I probably should put it away, will be a user. I already used it in the Kitchen to make the food I'm eating as I write this. (Onions and Garlic fear this knife;) )
I am helping the Inlaws move this week and then I'm off to fish Beaver Creek Colorado for a week.(Ain't life sweet?) That should give me plenty of time to test this beast out and see if she will fish......and cut bait. (Somewhere, there is a collector cringing at the thought.)

My thanks goes out to the folks at Spyderco for making such a pretty and functional knife.
Any plans for a 6"fixed blade model? I wouldn't hesitate to take one out on a mission with me.
Best Regards
