Just got my Nav II - Awesome!

The Nav II just came in today (ordered from NGK). Awesome little knife. It certainly looks tough! It's as thick as my SS Calypso Jr, but in a much smaller package. The knife feels really good in my smallish hands. I like the way that the point is relatively thick, compared to the Calypso or the older Delica. I don't think I'll be breaking that tip anytime soon (knock on wood:D ). I'm surprised at the stiffness though. It loosened up a bit after some lube, but still pretty stiff. However, no blade play at all

The Nav is my 3rd Spyderco out of my 6 folders (yeah, I know, I need to pick up speed:D ). The first was the obiquitous SAK (Swisschamp), then followed by a Calpyso Jr (SS) in 2001, an FRN Dragonfly in 2002, Kershaw Chive in '03, Decorated small Sebenza in '04 (40th birthday) and finally the Nav in '06.

I may buy 1 Benchmade eventually, but I still have about half a dozen Spydies on my wish list. I'll probably maintain the ratio of 50% Spyderco in my collection.

Spyderco absolutely rocks!

Really like the looks of the Navigator 2. Holding off on the purchase till I go to the Blade show. Want to see how it feels in my hands 1st.

It will feel great ;)

After reading the recent buzz on the Nav2, I'm tempted. I have a question, though. This one looks a little like a Salsa. Does anyone have both, who could offer a comparison?

Best regards.

I don't have a Salsa, but I've handled it before in a store. The Salsa is bigger than the Nav and fills the hand quite a bit more. I agree that the profile is similar, but the Nav is really scaled down.

I've wanted one for a long time. I just don't really care for SS knives. I love the shape and size of it, though.
