Yo,

It's been a while since I've ordered any knives. For a while I was fairly low on funds and had to unload all of my higher end productions and customs. Now that I have a decent paying job, I've been itching for a new knife to throw into the EDC rotation. After looking back at customs and other higher end productions, I finally decided to go with the Para 2; I just like the design too much. I used to EDC a Para 1 some years ago, but eventually sold it to "trade up" toward more expensive knives. I've missed having one since.

Anyway, on to the knife. I decided to go with the DLC coated blade. I don't care about any tactical applications of a coated blade. I've been EDCing a DLC coated Military for maybe a year now and I like the idea of the coating showing wear from use over time. For those that haven't used any of Spyderco's DLC coated blades, theirs is the toughest coating I've used on a folder. It takes a lot more work, relatively speaking, to wear down on their DLC coating compared to the coating you might find on Benchmades and other companies. I don't care for fancy steels; S30V works just fine for me. I ordered this from Knife Works. They shipped my order out quickly and gave me a perfect Para - centered blade, early lock up, smooth action and they gave me the version with the black screws that I requested.

Below are some pics for your clicks. Also in the pics are a Military and a Mac's Customs SST-550 (550 lumens with one cell:thumbup:):

I like the idea of the black one - just haven't seen it in the flesh yet

Thanks for the pics

Looks like they did put black coated hardware on the Para2 DLC?

It's odd because all the pictures advertising them show Silver/satin screws

They originally had the regular satin hardware on them, but eventually switch over to the black coated stuff, which is why I specifically asked for it. I'm guessing that unless you ask for one of the other, you'll get whatever they reach for. I don't know if the coating on the screws is DLC or something else.

I had my Son put in an order for me and told him to order a camo para 2 and black clip plus a sharp maker. My mistake because I meant to have him put in the order for a camo plain blade plus black clip and he ordered the one with a coated blade. No big deal,I'm curious if it will have black screws.I was tied up working on a car and should have waited to put in the order myself.Nice photos.

I didn't know you could request either clip. The pictures only seem to show the black clip with the black bladed Paras. Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. The DLC has grown on me and I tend to like satin blades generally speaking.

Now that I think about it I believe you have to order pocket clips from Spyderco.Oh well the coated blade is no big deal and it will come with the black pocket clip I wanted.I have no idea if it will come with black screws, just wait and see I guess.

The para 2 is a hell of a nice, useable knife. For the money its a steal. Congrats on the score.

I called the factory store and asked the question. The black scale, black blade has black hardware now.Camo scales, black blade has silver hardware. The photo in the catalog for 2011 showing black hardware with camo scales and black blade was a prototype model. It really doesn't matter to me but I was curious and that's the answer.
