Hey All,

Just got this in the mail. After reading about the potential problems with S30V, I guess I'll find out first hand if this is a real issue. Though I won't be intentionally trying to chip it. The black coating on the clip was already taken off by the time I bought it, but I like it. Here are some pics, and don't ask how I get such quality pics, it's a secret I'll take to the grave:D .

Even a blurry picture can't hide the beauty of this blade. I bet you were as happy as I was on the day that I recieved mine. And take heart, I never had any trouble (chipping) with my Ritter. Talk about a smooooth action.

I had trouble with chipping on my S30V Ritter, but most people don't. My sense, from reading countless opinions, is that if someone at the factory gets overly aggressive with the belt sander -- or uses a worn belt sander -- the steel can overheat and the edge becomes prone to chipping.

But the knife is a great design. I've even gotten used to the plastic handle. But I did switch to M2 steel.

Good luck with your knife. S30V steel is usually very, very good.

And, hey, I'm envious of anyone who can post a photo.

I was pretty frickin happy. I wanted to yell, but I didn't want everyone in the house to say "Another knife?". I can actually walk around with it and my girlfriend won't even notice that it's a new knife. I think it's better to keep it that way.

Congrats!

A great blade profile IMO. Most practical for EDC.

Only issue I have with the design is the balance (blade heavy). But, I'm adapting as I use it.
