I love it!
It is perfection!
Now I just need to figure out how to close it smoothly. I find that you need to push the lockbar up and away instead of just away. Oh well, I am sure it will come with time.

Excellent choice. I'm not sure I understand your lock bar problem. I've only ever had to push it away to unlock.
Maybe you just need to get used to a new knife.

Paul-I have big hands and long fingers. The small regular sebenza is somewhat small, so it will just take some time to get good at it.

K-man, after using it for a while you will come to appreciate the verstility of the design. I like my small regular so much, I'm saving for a small classic.

My favorite way to close the small sebenza:

Holding it with the spine down (edge up), push down and to the left on the lock bar. It should move over very easily.

Now, swing it down and bump the spine against your leg. This will close it just a tiny bit, but enough to keep it from locking again.

Then, turn the knife in your hand, and push it closed against your leg.

I find this the safest and fastest way to close the small one-handed.

Yes I agree, great choice. I have a small classic and it is my favorite knife. I usually carry it everywhere. I do rotate my edc but most often I carry my Sebenza.

It's good to hear that you finally got it and that you like it. I was starting to sweat it for a minute there. I was hoping that I wouldnt have to deal with the USPS claims system. :)

So am I Dan!
They said that they tried to deliver twice, The first time I was not here but they did not leave a note. The second time that they said delivery was attempted I was home before the mailman and he did not try to deliver it. I doesn't really matter anymore, now that I have it!
A question for the small regular owner's- do you push the lockbar with your thumb or index finger?

Kman - I own a small Classic, and I use the thumb. Seems like it would be exceedingly hard to use the index finger.

If you are finding it hard to close the small Sebenza, you might try taking the clip off. That seems to help, at least at first while you are getting used to closing the small. After you have the movement down, you could put the clip back on and probably not even notice the extra tension. At least that's how it worked for me...

Good choice !

I was trying many knives before buying my Sebenza (small standard serrated).

For me it is the best choice for everyday tasks. I own and use it since 2000 and now I know you can ask anything to this knife : it always do the job !!! (it's a bit much...but just a bit):D

K-man, now that you have a small, start saving for a large Classic. If you have big hands and are having problems with the lock bar, the large Classic is definitely the way to go. Beside the knife being larger, the cutout on the non-lock scale is larger to provide better access to the lock bar. Enjoy your new Sebbie.

I got my small Classic 2000 Sebenza from NCBlades. I don't know how he could let such a beautiful knife go! :D

It was pretty smooth when I got it, but of course I had to disassemble and lubricate it (fluorinated grease, naturally!).

That did it. I push the thumbstud forward and the blade snaps open. To close it, I hold it level, edge down, and push the lock away with my thumb. The blade drops down, and I can then reach around it with my thumb and close it all the way manually. In fact, it's a good idea to hold it slightly point down, so when the blade swings free, it doesn't come too close to the side of my thumb!

My large new style serrated is also this slick, but the N.I.C.A. large tanto needs more "play time".

Blade up push in release lever w/ thumb while simultaneously putting pressure on the blade with the index finger. Move thumb and adjust grip as the index finger continues to close blade.Fialize closure with thumb.
More importantly, you should be able to open the knife with either hand. A little more dexterity is required with the opposite hand, but it might serve you well to master this task before you need it.
Caution,this should be pre-cocktail practice.
Cheers,
Mrdi
