A month ago I got a Lightweight Delica in VG-10 and said that I would get the 204MF when I could. Well, I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it got to me 5 minutes ago (less than 20 hours). I am very satisfied with this purchase even though I havent opened the package yet. Thanks again to this forum and its members for letting me make an imformed purchase. If anyone is in Washington State, I know of a really great Spyderco dealer with good prices. :)

Im in the process of moving so I dont have any free time to watch the vid or try it out. Since ive never used it before, does anyone know if a Leatherman Wave will be a good test subject? I dont know what the angle of the knife is. After reading various tips, I think the most important one is to not pull my Delica all the way through because it WILL round the tip of the blade.

I've had my sharpmaker for a couple of months now and I'm very happy with it. I've used it on several different knives including Leatherman Micra and Supertool to my Spyderco Meerkat and a couple of large fixed blade knives. All were made shaving sharp, or close enough to it. I'd recommend you watch the video or at least have a quick look through the book and just follow the directions. I've only used the 40 degree holes and they work just fine. If you have any blades that need reshaping you might need to get yourself the diamond rods or a coarser stone to begin with but the sharpmaker will do a great job on any blades in reasonably good condition. It even sharpened up my breadknife really nicely and that has a somewhat flexible blade with a sort of wavy edge to it.

Have fun.

I couldnt help myself so I popped in the video. I had a general idea from reading the booklet but im a visual learner so it helped. I tried it on my Leatherman Wave with the 40 degree slots and its very sharp now.

I recently got a Sharpmaker but am having trouble getting it clean using the procedures Sal mentions in the video.

Anybody have any tricks they use to get theirs clean? Or don't they come completely clean when scrubbing them with Coment and a scouring pad?

I think you'll always see a little steel color left in the hone. I don't even use water & scrub technique anymore. Just grab a large eraser & erase the steel from the stones. Quick & easy, no mess & makes the sharpener into something you don't mind taking in the field.
Remember, ceramic hones don't work very well when loaded up, so cleaning often is required. Eraser makes it easy.

I use a "Rust Eraser" to very good effect. I'm pretty sure that AG Russell sells them for about $5.95 shipped. I've been using mine for over 10 years and it hardly looks worn. So it's small money well spent!

Ok, tried the Delica and despite how careful I tried to be, the knife slipped a few times and rounded the tip. I guess I will have to wait until I get an DMT X-Coarse. Does anyone know what angle I should be doing teh Delica at?
