I just got a Ti-Lock BlueSteam and I am loving it. CRK says they discontinued that graphic in January and are now just taking orders on the Elemental. I am happy to have picked one up before it was too late. Most of the online dealers I checked are out of stock but there are a couple that still have a few. Mine was born on 2/26/15. I am wondering if they just did a run of knives around that time for the year or it was just the dealer I got it from had it sitting around for a long time. In my mind the Ti-Lock is not the most popular model of CRK. I did not consider it until I had a chance to play with one at the store. I really like how it fits my hand and how it really works for the same in each hand. Its taken up a home in my left pocket while my Mnandi or Inkosi fights for my right pocket.

Congrats on the BluSteam, I love mine, it is a wonder of design and the carving is very unique, very steam punkish. Good thing we have one if they're discontinued they will probably go up in value with time. I like the new one too, so cool.

I recall in one of the videos (shot show? Anne Reeve?) it was said the Ti-Lock will have an annual limited addition. Looks like that concept is coming true. Even for a non-knife person, a collection of annual Ti-Locks would be mind-blowing. Even the basic one is an eye catcher. Now all the funky ones will be out there. I predict these will become very sought after, once there's a few more additions to the family and people want to complete their Ti-Lock collection.

The web site says "Introducing what is intended to be an annual series of Ti-Lock graphics, Blue Steam highlights the technical look of the Ti-Lock, offset with a Blue Sapphire." So intended is now fact. The Elemental is a really nice looking Ti-Lock. Actually I think its more attractive then the standard model by a long shot.

Alycia from CRK is saying they are still at the order taking stage on the Elemental. Maybe soon we will start hearing from people that own one.

What was the born on date for your BlueSteam? Just wondering if they build most of the years supply in a short run or did then across the year.

Congrats on your BlueSteam! Discontinued!?
Well that pushed me over the edge on picking one up too. Have always loved this version, couldn't resist any longer :D

Nice . I love using mine.

The blade looks perfect still, but you can see the wear on the spine and lock bar.

My regular tilock Was made on May 15-2014, I think they've been making them in batches since it came out, I really don't know; the blue steam in May 20-2015, I have never used it

It is really a beautiful design, like a well made tattoo

Thanks Makariotes it shows me mine was just in inventory longer at the dealer. I would think the regular ones were done in small batches but was guessing maybe the annual was maybe done in one big batch. It looks like that idea does not hold up. Not that it matters much...

You're welcome Driften; I see what you're saying. It actually makes sense to make them in batches, at least the Blue Steam; I cannot imagine it otherwise from the manufacturing side of things, you know, changing the program on the CNC machine to just do a few doesn't make much sense; but it is all assumptions on my part, I really don't know how the production line is set up at the factory, though I would like to visit someday and actually see the inside of the plant; that would really be a treat!

Nice shots there Bella, it is actually a good thing to see someone using one! I can't bring myself to even carry it, I'm a wuss I guess. Yours is holding up extremely well, and it actually looks cool with some wear on it. Oh, I forgot to ask, is that the original edge? It looks sharp!

Actually for all we know they may have taken completed standard Ti-Locks and then engraved them and added the Sapphire as need to fill orders during the year. That would not work with the Elemental....

That is actually a 400 grit finish I did taping the sticks of the Sharpmaker.
It is 16 DPS because my sharpmaker is worn in. Nasty sharp edge with a 20 degree micro on the coarse sticks after.

Beautiful even bevel you got there. I love a good thin grind that permits a relatively small secondary bevel even at 15-16 dps.

Nice job! When you say worn in you mean the coarse stones? I guess I can't picture it. Anyways, it looks great!

Im sorry,
I mean worn in, as in the plastic body the rods go into.
They all move to almost 16 after some extended use. Just from wear and tear. The more like 21 in the 20 setting.

Oh I see what you mean, got it. You must have used it a lot! That's pretty hard plastic, at least on mine it is; I guess it gets worn by the stones going in and out of the holes, I can see that happening. Thanks for the clarification!
