This is an awesome knife the slippie works really well and it doesn't feel dangerous to me with no lock. The handle is a bit small but the choiles in the handle make it feel great...and the blade is awesome, wharnies are my favorite and the one on the urban is great, it almost looks like a hawkbill because of the shape of the top of the blade...Highly recommend.

Congrats. Spyderco's innovation never ceases to amaze me. I never thought a one-handed slip joint knife would ever appeal to me but the UKPK has changed all that. And people wonder why Spyderco has such a die-hard following ... ;)

I agree. I have the resources and knives to carry any knife I want(xm18,sebenza,strider are some I own) and my UK Pen Knife gets carried and used more than any others right now. I have found it is so much better at the type of cutting I do (cardboard boxes, envelopes, food prep, branches and vines) that I carry it much more because it cuts so well. And the toughness of their HT is incredible. I have a 16 degree inclusive angle on it and it doesn't roll or chip. I have had the tougher knives edges roll cutting a cigar and the UKPK doesn't. Just today I was whacking down vines and hit a thick branch pretty hard and had no rolling or chipping.

Funny you mention that, I recently aquired one, and it does give the appearance of a slight curve to the blade. Almost hawkbill like, just playing tricks on the eyes I suppose though.

Yeah, the ukpk is definitely one of my fav's. One of the most comfortable to use for sure.
